Splinterlands 6 Year Anniversary - Advice For Newbies

Hi splinter nerds,
Welcome to my blog for another week of exciting splinterlands content. So for people or someone who is just hearing about splinterlands; you shouldn’t feel overwhelmed or taken off when you hear that you need to buy a spell book for 10 dollars. All this is there to put certain things into check.
I remember when I first came across spl. The feeling was mutual and I really liked what I saw. To be sincere I didn’t know it was a game of cards where all you needed to do was select the cards and watch the cards play it out. I thought you’ll still need to play with each individual cards like most rpg games go but then I was wrong.
I discovered splinterlands at a time my interest in games had fallen off. I’ve been really interested in games for a while now but it seems that interest has decreased quite drastically. This is due to certain factors which are beyond my control in my opinion. I used to love to play for the whole day but now a few games in and I am already bored so I wouldn’t say I discovered spl at a good time. When I discovered it I was drawn to it as I always say but then I needed more time.
First off, the 10 dollars spell book price was what turned me away for a few reasons. One of them being I wasn’t equipped at that time to get a spell book for that much, I was just starting hive and used some funds to buy hive power to kick start my hive journey.
A few months later and I was ready to play after a friend had already made serious progress which gave me the confidence to finally make that purchase. I was much interested now because I knew I had someone to guide me through it now.
The how long question always excites me. One might thank I’ve been playing spl for a very long time but kid you not, I’ve not played up to a year. When I look at the progress I’ve made in this game I am amazed at how fast I’ve climbed up the ranks.
A few months more and then I can say I’ve been playing for a very long time. When I look at my understanding of the game now
I think I’ve made serious progress in the game.

I used to play for how long my energy capacity allowed me. The funny thing about this is that i used to do that because I had no idea one could buy additional energy from tbt market. So fast forward to realising I can buy from the market, I now play as far as my energy purchase will allow me. The how much time I spend on spl actually depends on how I feel for the day. I could be playing the whole day today and only put in a few games the following day. It all depends on how I feel.
Well, I’ve been able to get to my 1000 staked sps goal. This is not a very big accomplishment in my eyes but i was the same person who made the commitment to get to 1k sps by the end of this week. The reason for this goal is quite easy. Most of the sps there was gotten from brawls and ranked modern and wild play.

I’ve also been able to conquer the diamond league even though I’ve not been able to get into champion. Last season, it was my goal to get into champion III but due to certain factors I stopped playing along the way. So yesterday, when the season ended I got sent back to gold. Well, it doesn’t matter as the season has just started and I can get back into diamond and then strive to reach the champion level before this season ends.
I’ve always said this and I will always say it when someone asks me about spl. Yes, spl is a play to earn game but it requires patience. It’s not a new game in the space so you don’t expect to come in and immediately start to earn huge sums of money. If you want to earn huge sums of money you’ll have to invest that huge sums of money in lands, conflicts, staked sps and a whole lot of other things.
But then if you don’t have that much you can do it little by little and eventually you’ll be making something at the end of the day. The requirements to earn in the game has changed a lot so I think even before you make that 10 hbd purchase you should be accustomed to all this.
Patience is the key. You don’t become a good player just by winning battles.

You get beaten and from those games you learn new strategies. I know it can be overwhelming but put the feeling of earning aside when you start playing. Learn to be good and then the rewards will follow.
Being a play to earn game doesn’t also mean that you’ll only play to earn in battles. There are a lot of other ways to earn, some of which are by buying lands, participating in conflicts, opening chaos and rebellion packs and a whole lot. So take your time and learn all this before you start playing to have a smooth experience.
This is the little I have to say about Spl today.
