2024 Year In Review And What's Ahead For My SPL Journey

Hi splinter family,

The year is almost ending and as usual we need to bid farewell to 2024 and welcome to new year. We hope that this new year brings a lot of opportunities for us all round web 3. While we enjoy the game of splinterlands we have goals which we set before this year ended. I for sure know that in between this year I set a goal of 10k sps. Well I can say I would have gotten there if I hadn’t decided to power down the sps for other reasons.

Well, it’s not too late as hopefully we can do better next year. I have a couple things that I want to talk about but first of all let me boast about that one game which I seem to enjoy. For this game I wanted to go with a particular line up but I changed my mind and it worked brilliantly. As I say the game keeps on changing everyday so we need to adapt new ways to conquer our opponents.

Sweeet Battle

As usual for this season I’ve been able to make it to diamond II but I was beaten back to Diamond III so yh we still there. I had this huge mana of 59 which I was happy for but i was unfortunate to get the four’s crowd Ruleset which was known as Fab Four a few months ago.

I had 5 elements available so I wanted to go in for the earth element but I decided on the dragon element. Funny thing is I had started selecting my cards but u changed my mind. After going for dragon I went for the death element. With a mana of 59 I went in for huge mana cards as well.

First card was Arkemis bear, next in line carnage titan and then chains dragon and then night reaper which is surprisingly good at level 2. (This is one card ive tried to max but to no avail).

My opponent went for similar cards but 2 cards were different. His first position card was Drybone barbarian and then in 3rd was Iziar. He also went for the dragon summoner but I was the luckier one in my selection.

With my night reaper targeting flying magic cards it was easy to kill his chaos dragon in round 2. My arkemis bear handled his Drybone pretty easily. It didn’t take more than 3 rounds for me to claim victory. The reason why I like this battle so much is at first glance you’ll think it’ll be a tough fight but for some reason I handled it easily.

What Worked Best

Away from the match I’ll like to talk about card combinations or what worked well for me. So the back story is when I started playing spl I was inclined to using magic cards. I was glued to obsidian for a long time till I started to get different cards but for some reason I always went back to earth cards and ultimately obsidian. Fast forward to this year my second account got immortalis which is basically a beast and then still gave me the chance to use my favourite magic cards.

So for this one the strategy that has worked well for me has been immortalis and I think I won’t stop using it anytime soon.

2025 Goals

For next year I have a 20k sps goal. It seems like a lot since I’ll be starting from 0 but I believe I can do it. This year I got to 10k in less than 7 months. Technically am not there yet but i consider it. Considering I wasn’t that good and was in lower leagues so that’s why. Now I get into diamond easily so I think I can get to 20k by this time 2026.

For next year I also plan on entering a lot of tournaments. Tournaments are a great way of getting more sps and I plan on doing that. Just that I’ll need to improve my collection as well.

Since the sps from tournaments are not staked it can help me not to touch my stated sps for next year.

For now I think I am taking things slowly and looking at what splinterlands will throw at us for next year before we make a lot of decisions.

Hopefully next year is a good year for sps as well.
