Weapon Training at Sea: A Sweet Victory with Water Strategy

Hey there, Splinterlands warriors! 🌊
How are you all doing today?
The crypto market’s been a bit rough lately—prices dipping everywhere, HIVE taking a hit, and let’s just hope SPS and DEC don’t sink too deep along with it. But amid all that turbulence, there’s one thing that never fails to lift the spirits: winning battles in the Splinterlands arena!

This time, I want to share one of my most exciting matches — a Water-element battle with the Keep Your Distance and Deflection Field rulesets. That means no melee monsters allowed, and any reflected damage can really bite back! With a mana cap of 57 and all elements available except Fire and Earth, it was the perfect moment to dive deep into a spell-heavy, ranged-focused lineup.

🌊 My Team Formation

I chose Archon Helios Matriarch as my summoner — her speed boost always gives my team that precious edge in striking first. Leading the frontline was Djinn Oshannus, my ever-reliable tank with strong magic defense and adaptability.

Behind him stood Night Reaper, a flying monster with Wingbreak — perfect for grounding enemy fliers. In the center, Noa the Just with Rust to erode enemy armor, which was incredibly useful under these rules.

Then came the key piece: Berix Snakeye with Weapon Training and Void Armor. He became the “combat coach,” granting attack power to non-offensive allies and bolstering the team’s defense. To complement that, Clockwork Aide brought Swiftness for extra team speed, while Swamp Spitter provided Repair and Giant Killer support. Altogether, the formation felt balanced — fast, flexible, and ready to endure reflected damage from Deflection Field.

⚔️ A Tough Opponent

My opponent used Archon Quix the Devious, reducing my team’s speed and ranged attack. His lineup was a powerhouse:

  • Djinn Oshannus and Baakjira as frontliners with Void and massive durability,
  • Runic Skyclaw and Chaos Dragon delivering deadly aerial and Scattershot attacks,
  • Axemaster with his Double Strike, and
  • Sea Stalker with Snipe and Camouflage.

I could tell right away — this wasn’t going to be easy.

🌀 The Flow of Battle

Round 1 was tense. Baakjira’s Slow made my attacks miss several times, especially against their Oshannus. But my Night Reaper managed to land solid hits on Runic Skyclaw, chipping away its health.

By Round 2, luck turned my way — Night Reaper finished off the Skyclaw, while Noa and Swamp Spitter’s pressure finally brought down the enemy Djinn Oshannus. Even though my Reaper got hit by Snipe, he held strong.

Entering Round 3, Baakjira stepped up front, and that was no small challenge. Its HP pool was huge, and the Void ability kept my magic in check. Still, the combined offense from Berix Snakeye and Swamp Spitter wore it down before it could heal back up.

Round 4 passed with both sides hanging on, but in Round 5, Swamp Spitter landed a decisive blow, taking out Chaos Dragon. Axemaster then got forced into the front line with no protection — and it didn’t take long before he fell too. Finally, Sea Stalker stood alone, unable to hide any longer. My team swept the field. Victory was mine! 🏆

💡 Reflections and Takeaways

The highlight of this battle was how Weapon Training truly shaped the outcome. Berix Snakeye empowered non-attacking monsters like Clockwork Aide to contribute offensively — turning support units into hidden threats. Meanwhile, the synergy between Repair from Swamp Spitter and Void Armor from Berix gave my backline incredible staying power.

For new players, this match shows the importance of synergy between monster abilities. Victory isn’t always about raw damage — sometimes it’s about how well your team’s skills complement each other.

This fight reminded me that in Splinterlands, true strength doesn’t just come from legendary cards, but from team composition and rule mastery. If you’re new to the game, don’t be afraid to experiment with support abilities like Weapon Training or Repair. Sometimes, they’re the unsung heroes that decide the match.

And hopefully, just like our spirits in battle, the prices of SPS and DEC will rise again soon. See you all in the next arena, summoners! 💪🌊
