New Season, New Strategy: Exploring Wild Mode in Splinterlands
Hello summoners, welcome back to my post at the beginning of this month. A new month means a new season in Splinterlands, and of course, it’s also time for Hive Power Up. Somehow, every beginning of the month always feels like the perfect moment to reset strategies, try new things, and prepare for the challenges ahead.
This season, I decided to sharpen my skills again in Wild mode. After a few past seasons of converting my SPS into DEC, I finally managed to buy the Wild Pass. This decision got me excited because it means I can once again play with my old card collection that has been gathering dust. The funny part is—I had forgotten about some of those cards, so I had to relearn how to pair them with the right ones. It feels like a reunion with old friends, where you need to remember who used to click with whom.
That’s actually where the fun comes in. Even though I lost quite a lot, I felt more entertained because the Glint I collected in Wild turned out to be higher than in Modern with Bronze League. Understandable, since in Modern I’m still struggling with the lack of Archons, so the results weren’t optimal. On top of that, guild benefits—like the percentage bonus of Glint earnings—really made a difference, especially for players like me who are experimenting with strategies.
To be honest, I still often get stuck in a Modern mindset when playing Wild. As a result, my strategies don’t always work, and I had to swallow the bitter pill of dropping from Gold III to Silver I. It was a bit frustrating, but on the other hand, also a valuable lesson.
Looking back at my battle history, it’s true that the beginning of the season is always tough. Many strong players just reset their leagues and gather at the lower levels. So, it’s natural that the competition feels heavier. Fortunately, based on experience, things usually ease up after mid-season, when those top players climb back to higher leagues and the lower ones become more manageable.
Aside from Wild, I also tried my luck in Frontier mode. The goal is simple: to get extra cards little by little. I’m not in a rush, because for me Splinterlands is a long-term investment. Every card earned today could turn out to be extremely valuable in the future.
When I think about it, the most interesting part of this experience is actually about the community. Take guild Glint bonuses, for example—they clearly show how much more rewarding it is to play together. Imagine if new players knew from the start that joining a guild could significantly boost their progress—their development would be so much faster. Plus, sharing strategies among fellow players often becomes a shortcut to learning things that would otherwise take a lot of trial and error alone.
At the end of the day, I always remind myself that Splinterlands isn’t just a game, but also a long-term investment. So, if someone asks me why they should play Splinterlands, my answer is simple: because this game isn’t just about winning or losing. There’s satisfaction when your strategy works, there’s excitement in discovering new combinations, and there’s extra value in knowing that what you build today could become an asset in the future. That’s an experience you rarely find in other games.
