Kaylia Silverleaf in Action: Elves, Execute, and a Modern Format Duel
Hello Archons of Splinterlands!
How’s it going? Back again with me for another round of the weekly Splinterlands Challenge. This time, I’m going to share a little story from one of my Battle of the Day matches that turned out to be quite a thrill. But before we jump into the action, let me introduce the star of today’s show—Kaylia Silverleaf.
🌿 Meet Kaylia Silverleaf
For those who don’t know her yet, Kaylia Silverleaf is a summoner from the Conclave Arcana series with a pretty interesting ability. At level 1, she reduces -1 magic attack from the enemy team—a skill that feels similar to some of the Chaos summoners I often use. But here’s what makes Kaylia stand out: her dominion is Bloodline, which means all Elf-type monsters on your team get the Execute ability. Pretty sweet, right? Especially when you’re up against wounded enemies—those elves won’t hesitate to finish them off!
Since I’m still new to exploring the Modern format and most of my collection is still from the Chaos and older series, I decided to rent a few cards just to get a feel for it. Kaylia was one of the summoners I picked up for this early test run.
💡 My Team Formation
I already had a few Elf monsters from the Rebellion set, so I immediately thought of trying them out with Kaylia. This battle took place in Modern format, with a 36 mana cap and a standard ruleset.
Here’s the lineup I used:
Warborn Chieftain (Frontline tank)
Halfling Refugee
Thanalorian Blade (Opportunity attacker)
Blackmoor Wild Elf (Magic attacker)
Thanalorian Archer
Quilliun Legionary
Out of those six monsters, two of them are Elves, which means they automatically gained Execute thanks to Kaylia. My opponent used Lorkus as their summoner, giving their team a +1 magic bonus. They also relied heavily on melee monsters.
The match started off pretty intense. The enemy led with Gobalano Soldier, who had ambush, but my Quilliun Legionary managed to hold the line thanks to its armor. Then came Forked-Tongue Sage, who got absolutely deleted by my Thanalorian Blade—that sword does not mess around!
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Warborn Chieftain fell earlier than expected—he was the first casualty on my side. The most annoying part? The enemy’s Night Stalker kept harassing my backline with its sneaky attacks.
Luckily, Halfling Refugee held up like a champ, and my team’s magic attacks steadily chipped away at the enemy threats. The magic bonus from Lorkus didn’t feel too impactful, thanks to Kaylia’s magic debuff.
What I Learned
Even though the Execute ability didn’t shine much this time—most enemy monsters were KO’d in one hit anyway—I started to get a good feel for how this team works. I also realized that to make the most of Kaylia, I’ll need more Elf monsters with survivability or multi-hit attacks, so they can stick around long enough to trigger that juicy Execute.
What excites me is that this strategy seems pretty promising for Modern format. With the right card combinations, it can really put pressure on your opponent. And for newer players, understanding the link between summoner dominion and monster types is a big step toward building solid strategies.

If you’re new or still learning the ropes of Modern, I can’t recommend experimenting enough. Just like I did—start with renting cards, test different abilities, and look for synergistic combos. The Splinterlands community is also super helpful, with lots of content, strategic posts, and advice floating around Discord and Hive. Don’t hesitate to ask and share!
✨ Final Thoughts
So that’s my little journey with Kaylia Silverleaf in the Modern format. Still early days, but I can already see the potential. If you’re just dipping your toes into Modern or curious about the Rebellion cards, Kaylia’s a great place to start. Try building a team of Elves around her—you might find it fits your playstyle perfectly!
Catch you in the next battle—and don’t forget to share your experiences too. Archon out! ✌️
