HALVED ATTACKS: A BATTLE STORY

Hello, Summoners of Splinterlands! How’s it going? Have you discovered any new strategies that leave your opponents shaking their heads in disbelief? If so, share them with the community!

Today, I’ve got a story about a battle full of drama – it started with confidence but ended with frustration, thanks to one card from my opponent that completely derailed my plans. Let me tell you all about it!

This battle had the Equalizer and Heavy Hitter rulesets, with a 29-mana cap. The available elements were Fire, Earth, and Dragon. After careful consideration, I decided to go with Earth. It felt like the perfect choice for these rulesets, especially since I had a favorite Gladiator card ready to make a splash.

Here’s my team lineup, as shown in the image:

Looking at my opponent’s lineup, I initially felt confident. They were running Sorriel the Bale, a magic card with Double Strike, alongside Baron Fyatt, who has Halving and Scattershot, and Tusk the Wide as the health anchor with its massive health pool. At the start, my strategy seemed to counter their setup perfectly.

And it did! At first, I dominated. Goblin Psychic’s Silence weakened Sorriel’s magic, and the Sneak attacks from Katrelba and Uraeus started tearing through their backline. My team’s Poison abilities also activated a few times, and I was certain the match was mine to win.

But then, Baron Fyatt entered the fray, and everything changed.

His Scattershot Halving hit my key monsters, especially Katrelba and Uraeus. The result? Their attacks became as weak as mosquito bites – almost useless! With Tusk the Wide’s enormous health, all my efforts felt futile. Even Venari Seedsmith’s Poison, which usually turns the tide, rarely triggered in this match.

By the end, I could only watch as my team crumbled.

But from this loss, I learned an important lesson: Baron Fyatt is a card to watch out for. Scattershot with Halving is like rolling dice, but the odds are always in the opponent’s favor. Next time, I’ll need to find a way to counter him.

Despite the defeat, I see this match as a valuable lesson for improving my strategies. For those of you who rely on Poison or Sneak, start thinking about ways to handle Scattershot or monsters like Baron Fyatt. Who knows? My loss might just help you secure a win!

See you on the battlefield, Summoners! I hope my story inspires and motivates you. 💪
