Getting Ready for Yaba’s Pickle – A New Kind of Tank in Splinterlands!
Hello Archon friends! 🌱
Have you ever seen a card that just feels... different? That was exactly my reaction when I first heard about Yaba’s Pickle. Turns out, it’s the latest promo card in Splinterlands — and to be honest, I got pretty excited to join the event right away!
So here’s the deal — Yaba’s Pickle is a new promo card being released as part of the Arcane Event Series. This card has some really unusual stats: it costs four mana, doesn’t deal any damage, but is surprisingly strong on the frontline — especially in low-mana battles. At level three, it already has Dodge, and as it levels up, it gains Shield, Slow, and even Heal at max level. Just imagine how annoying this card could be in tight matches!
Even though it can’t attack, this Pickle is a true tank. It’s perfect for rulesets like Little League or Back to Basics, especially if your opponent relies on melee or ranged attacks — that Shield makes it incredibly tough! And the best part? It relies entirely on defensive skills and debuffs, not damage. That opens up all kinds of new strategic combos — it works great when paired with monsters that have Weapon Training.
Some cards that, in my opinion, work well alongside this one are MOXIAN REBEL, DAARG DEADBLAST, and DALTHIN IRONHOOD. These are a few cards from the Rebellion set that I’ve used several times. Since they’re from the same set released just before Conclave Arcana, this card can still be played in Modern format along with Yaba’s Pickle. And with a relatively low mana cost of only 4, it is more likely to be used alongside MOXIAN REBEL, turning it into a magic monster.
🛠️ My Journey to Get Yaba’s Pickle
The journey to obtain this Pickle has been pretty exciting. There are three ways to get it: through SPS staking, crafting raffle tickets, and Black Foil Auctions. Since I’m not exactly rich in-game, I went with the first option. I staked 18,696.664 SPS so I could buy 18 copies of this card at a cheap price — just 150 DEC per card!
I did consider the raffle ticket crafting route, but it requires Aura, Vouchers, and DEC. Still, it might be worth it — each ticket gives you a regular Yaba’s Pickle and a chance to win a gold foil version. Sounds like a nice bonus if luck’s on your side. As for the auction… yeah, I’ll skip that for now. Aura and vouchers are too expensive for me at the moment.
One thing I really appreciate about this event is how Splinterlands tries to include all kinds of players. Even new players with some saved-up SPS can jump into the fun of getting a promo card. And if they get Yaba’s Pickle, it can be super useful in bronze or silver ranks — especially since this card is a tank, and doesn’t need complex strategies. Just throw it in the frontline, support it from the back, and it’s already giving your opponents a headache.
📌 A Tip for Fellow Players Out There
If you haven’t started staking SPS yet, now’s the perfect time. Even if you can’t afford a lot, just one or two copies of Pickle can really change the rhythm of your team. Don’t underestimate the power of defense and debuffs, especially in low-mana battles. And if you have a little extra, crafting a raffle ticket might be a fun way to test your luck too!
