Summer Running and some nice scenary!
Well at least I can say I've had ONE great week of weather for running, which was this week just gone.
I was away in Somerset, SW of the UK for work and did a couple of runs, I only intended to do one, so only took one set of kit, but the first day's was so nice I washed said kit in the sink and let it dry for the next day, it was so warm it dried in a day no problem!
Monday's Run: intervals!
I headed out early and bashed out a minimal set....
- 2* 700
- 2* 400
- 2* 200.
I did mean to start off with 800 then do 600 but I got confused with my starting KM decimal point and cocked up the distance, oh well!
Wednesday's Run - new 6K route....
I had to unlock the hotel door myself to get out at 6.30 a.m! Headed off with just a phone for the route and door key.
Found a great route along a local cycle path made out of an old railway love these.
Did an out and back, 6K, few misturns on route, managed to get up a decent pace for the last 2K once I new it, on the way back.
This was perfect weather!
Thursday's Run - proper enjoyable scenic 10K
It was so nice on the Wednesday I just had to repeat, but longer, that cycle track was perfect running, albeit dead flat, but I'll take that! I just headed out and paused every now and then to take some photos!
An old platform....
The route...
Sample of the path...
Weekly running final thoughts...
One of my most enjoyable week's runnings this year, so nice when the area, route and weather all sync up!

indeed you had. you should get a raise! :D
Cheers, but honestly all just quick pics with a phone camera, but the scenery was smashing!
No the biggest fan of the running. But the scenery is great indeed :D
It was idyll! With the weather and all!
Do you walk between your sprints? I tend to jog, but I guess it's all about recovery. Old railway tracks tend to be fairly flat and straight. I've done one on Hayling Island, but that's pretty flat anyway. Running is a great way to explore.
With the intervals yes I do walk between, typically between 100 to 150M is enough to get my HR back down!
I've seen youngsters at the track full on stopping for quite long periods too, I think it's maybe more effective than jogging, unless yr fartlecking of course.
It's dark when I run so not much to see...I prefer your views!
What time do you head out...? It'd be dark about 3 months of the year at that time, easier in summer! I go out later winter!
I'm usually up at 5am and out soon after and when I get lazy...well, I don't go at all and fool myself that that's ok.
5 a.m. is good going, and you can only do what you can do! Just get out when you can!
