CryptoRaiding Weekly Update.... 20/1/22 - 27/1/22

This cute pixel game has conquered the blockchain gaming world by storm and is surprising players and investors with their innovation and development updates. The Cartel is already sending its own Raider into dungeons for loot and glory. In this article I present a summary of what our Raiders have been up to this week and of the broader game developments...

The developments just keep on coming with CryptoRaiders with the introduction this week of 'endless dungeons' which promoted a stats reset and rebalancing of how attributes affect Raiders' performance.

We also saw a return to questing after a week's break for improvements.

The Stats Reset...

For every level a Raider hits he gets + 7 points to distribute among 6 characteristics, the three main 'build options' being agility, intelligence and strength - which influence your chances of hitting and being hit, and scoring critical hits (which make a huge difference) when squaring up against monsters.

There are three main stats:

  • Agility
  • Strength
  • Intelligence

And all three count towards your HP, damage, and critical chances....

It's a bit odd the way builds are worked out - you get 100% of the weight of your primary stat, but only 70% of your secondary and 5% on the tertiary - the reason for nerfing the final one is that some very rare gear can give a HUGE boost and lead to OP raiders.

The reason you might want to split your points between the first two especially is because there is a decreasing effect the more points you have - so eventually it's going to be more effective to have 70% effect in stat 2 compared to more in stat 1.

There are also three minor stats:

  • Wisdom
  • Luck
  • Charm.

These have more of an effect of your chance to evade attacks and get critical hits, but TBH I'm not sure wha the weight of these is with the reset, no one's talking about it as of yet, that's something I'll need to explore further for next week.

I had a dig around the 'theory crafting' channel in Discord and people were reporting high levels of success with a 70-30 stats distribution - so I opted for piling 70% of our points into agility and 30% into intelligence, or at least balanced up to that with the gear Bash30 as got, previously I'd had all 42 points (for L7) in Intelligence.

Raiders get more of a bonus for stat 1 than stat 2 but on a declining scale, so it's something of a balancing act!

Unfortunately it was too late for New Recruit as I'd already sent him through his dungeons for this week and got him questing, but he'll be able to do this next week!

30 BASH's raids were VERY successful on the back of these changes!

Raidering and Questing...

Following the upgrade, BASH30 managed 5 successful raids going up the dungeon levels, earning LOTS of experience points - he's now Level 8 and so I was able to pile MORE points into Agi-Int - in the same ratio as above.

And by the end of his 5 raids he was completing the new dungeon for a L8 raider with NO PROBLEM at all.

We got some decent gear too, on a par with what we've already got, and I tested some of it out and it seemed to make him even more powerful...

New Recruit is now able to handle basic hogger, so he is battling, and now has some nice Copper Armour and an Apprentice Staff, and it will be interesting to see next week how his stats upgrade goes!

Questing for GrimWeed

Not a lot to say about this, QUESTS are back, and both Raiders are currently questing for Grimweed....

The Endless Dungeon....

This is the new feature in which your Raider comes up against consecutive monsters - randomly, so you might face a really tough one at first and just fail immediately but then a few easier ones next time around.

I tested this out and the less said about it the better.... with a Level 8 Raider with decent gear I got nowhere on two runs and then two monsters in on the final attempt, and no option to leave early it seems, you just keep going until you die.

I guess I'll have to try different builds next week!
