SPS: Lets Dig In (Richlist, Dormant Accounts, Alt Accounts)

Look At Those Holdings
Above you will see a screenshot of the top 20 Splinterland accounts holding the most amount of SPS. These stats have been taken from PeakMonsters which has an onsite tool that allows Splinterland players to view a multitude of richlists that pertain to the Splinterlands universe. Ignoring the holdings of the DAO we can see there are multiple accounts that have near or well over 10 Million SPS. In that same screenshot we can see some other valuable information. Such as my own personal ranking for the account that I took the richlist screenshot with, rank #584. Considering I was once a top holder of Splinterland assets this makes me realize how far my participation within the Splinterlands universe has fallen. However that is neither here nor there as this post isn't about my personal holdings. Yes, just like in real life; I sometimes get side tracked and ramble a little before getting back on topic. If we continue to look at that shared screenshot above there is a much more interesting number than the one that shows my lack of SPS holdings. What number is that? Thanks for asking. I would be referring to the total accounts that are holding SPS. Can you take a guess? I suppose you don't have to if you already looked at the screenshot but for those who might of overlooked such, 336,000 accounts are holding SPS Tokens. That is a mind boggling amount of accounts that are holding SPS. Got some SPS thoughts of your own? Sound off in the comment section.
336,000 Hive Accounts Holding SPS
I had to highlight that number and also would like to express the importance of it. What importance might that be? What a great question lets dig into the answer. With such a vast number of accounts holding SPS it shows that there is still plenty of people with skin in the game. There is still plenty that are interested in the SPS token. Now I know what some of you are thinking and you would be right but lets break down those thoughts. (Thought One) Some of those are alt accounts owned by whales or whatnot that hold SPS on multiple accounts. (Response) That would be very true but looking at the top 20 holding SPS how many alt accounts do you think realistically people have. The nuisance of managing anymore than a handful of accounts would be a workload that would annoy the most patient of people. Its for these reasons and more that I don't believe the lion share of these holders are simply alt accounts. (Thought Two: dormant accounts) Here is where I think allot of accounts reside. But how much is allot? I can't put a number on it. Even if I tried we would have to establish what one might consider a dormant account. Is it an account that logs in to Splinterlands a few times a month. Is it someone like me who still plays in the rental market but doesn't do much else aside from keeping up with important updates and sharing such in blog posts? Either way I believe dormant accounts are not that worrisome. Why is that? Shouldn't we want them participating? Of course we would prefer them to participate but dormant accounts that hold handfuls of SPS that have crypto-wise owners will have just that; crypto-wise owners that check on the value of their assets. Meaning, they still have their eyes on SPS and therefor Splinterlands and that is half the battle in-regards to getting them participating again. Which, I would guess, will be the likely outcome if we were able to get SPS to moon.

Current Day SPS USD
Today's date is 09/06/25. Above you will see a graph taken from TribalDex (Hive-Engine). The graph displays a multitude of information including the current Ask price (0.04088) and Bid price (0.00804) of SPS traded against the Hive Token. Those same numbers in USD are as follows; Ask: $0.0083 / Bid $0.0804. The graph also displays the fact that there has been $2352 worth of trade for the SPS token on TribalDex over a 24 hour period. Are these numbers high? Are they a sign of a healthy token? Are they a sign of a healthy ecosystem? @rentmoney believes so. If we go to the TOKENS section of TribalDex (Hive-Engine) and sort tokens by 24 hour trade volume we will see that SPS is in the top five. DEC (Dark Energy Crystals) currently ranks third. That means out of the top five tokens that are tradable on the Hive Blockchain apps two out of five of those tokens belong to the Splinterlands ecosystem. Not to mention these two tokens are very closely linked to each other. Anytime DEC hits $1.00 USD: 1000 DEC something known as the flywheel kicks in. I don't know the full on mechanics of what is known as the flywheel but from my understanding what would of been any value above $1.00: 1000 DEC gets shifted to SPS through purchase and burn mechanisms. This interesting but yet important relationship between the two tokens means all SPS token holders should be rooting for DEC to get back to $1.00 USD: 1000 DEC on secondary markets. On the plus side to DEC being below the $1.00: 1000 DEC threshold discounts can be had. Splinterlands accepts DEC at a rate of $1.00: 1000 DEC regardless of what the active price of DEC is on secondary markets. Do with that information what you will.

What Is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a #play2earn game hosted on the Hive Blockchain. Assets that have real monetary value are used to earn rewards/ more assets in a robust gaming economy. Such assets are tradable on-site or on many different secondary markets such as TribalDex and Hive-Engine. Don't have a Splinterlands account yet. Well you are in luck because I just so happen to have an ambassador code. Clicking it will start the sign up process. What is an ambassadors code? Its a code that will give me credit for your sign up at no cost to you. Here it is: https://splinterlands.com/register?ref=rentmoney Don't want to use my ambassador code (no worries) here is a direct link that will forgo any credit to me: https://splinterlands.com.
What Is The Hive Blockchain?
It's many things including but not limited to: A source for information. A host spot for many play2earn games. A place to build your own business. A place to run a blog account. A place to interact with your online friends. A place to expand your knowledge. Your imagination is the limit to what the Hive Blockchain has to offer and could be to you. Creating and curating content on the Hive Blockchain will give you the opportunity to earn the Blockchains main currencies known as Hive and HBD (Hive Backed Dollars).
Concluding Thoughts:
@rentmoney needs more SPS, @rentmoney needs more DEC, @rentmoney needs more cards, @rentmoney needs more LAND, @rentmoney needs more Splinterland assets, @rentmoney just needs more. No financial advice has been given in this post. @rentmoney routinely makes bad financial decisions and it wouldn't be wise to do as he does. It would be wise to view this post as entertainment and to do your own research before investing any of your hard earned currencies into any project. We thank you for spending your time here on the @rentmoney blog and hope to see you at our next post.

It's going to be a cold day in hell once that flywheel ever kicks in lol
Just means we got time to get more before a prolonged flywheel. At least that is what I keep telling myself. Plenty of accounts with lots of SPS. Be interesting to see how movement of such stakes go if SPS spikes. The Risk is there but the reward could be life changing.
going to be dead honest with you at this rate we wont ever see a flywheel kick in. They keep trashing it ever time it's suppose to happen just to generate millions more for the company. There's no value in anything anymore its been sucked dry. If they don't change things to accumulate fees and for the fees to start returning value this thing will die it's slowly dying already. They need to make some hard decisions and smarter decisions again otherwise kiss it goodbye.
What I would really love to know is how many human players actually play the game... and I would guess less and less. I can't foresee a bright future in a game that continues to leave its best mode to bots. Team has done a lot of great stuff, but they seem oblivious to the fact that an increasing pay wall and the lack of balance for a casual player to play since leagues were removed doesn't exactly make for a great NPE.
It would be an interesting stat. I think it would be hard to get a true number or thereabouts. SPL markets turning green will likely up that number. The earn part in #play2earn is very much a key factor.
For sure, but while anyone starting the game can get stumped by near maxed decks, don't see it happening. There is a lot of good feedback to be taken from the frontier mode...

Once hive gains more popularity over time, Splinterlands will once again rise.
I agree with your assessment.
Welcome Back !
