Share Your Battle - Level 1 Disintegrator Challenges Level 4 Disintegrator

The theme for the current "Share Your Battle" challenge is Disintegrator, and I think most would agree that this is a very important card when it comes to Melee type of battles.

As usual, here's a portion of the lore for Disintegrator:

The crazed tinker, Morloth, created the Disintegrator within his lair in the Badlands. Assembling various parts of other creatures together, he spent an age designing and building his masterpiece. The only problem was bringing it to life. He tried taking the fierce lightning from the sky and filling the monstrous body with raw energy but that didn’t work and only damaged its limbs. He experimented with molten power from within the ground but that only burnt away its flesh and hide. It wasn’t until he had a visit from a cloaked agent of chaos and was gifted the answer to his problems that the engine burst into life.

PositionCardNotes
SummonerTarsaTarsa is definitely the better fire summoner for the starter deck, especially when Fire is filled with strong Melee attackers.
1Living LavaThis is probably my default tank for Fire as I don't rent that Legendary card (you know which one I am referring to hehe).
2Radiated BruteI wouldn't say this is a top card but it is reliable as the second attacker nonetheless.
3DisintegratorI prefer to hide such cards somewhere in the middle so it is safer. Almost a default choice since both teams are likely to play Melee based on the ruleset.
4Tenyii StrikerThis is a strong Sneak card and having 7 HP (after summoner's boost) enables hit to last a long time to deal decent damage.
5Serpentine SpyThis is a tricky card to play as the challenge comes in keeping it alive. Slotted all the way at the back, just ahead of the tanky last card.
6Lava LauncherThis is one of the few Fire cards with good speed and I will always use it when the mana allows.

  • Pre Battle: I wasn't surprised to see a Fire lineup on the opposite end, and I also wasn't surprised to see a Disintegrator on the opposite end too. What demoralised me was that once again, my Level 1 cards were faced off with higher levelled summoners and cards, in this case a Level 4 Disintegrator. There's no way to run so let's rumble on!
    image.png

  • Round 1: Was off to a bad start as my Serpentine Spy was taken out almost immediately, leaving me with one card short.
    image.png

  • Round 2: Things took a turn as Tenyii Striker took out their last card, while my Lava Launcher held on with its tanky stats. Having an extra attacker on my team made the difference and their tank was taken out first.
    image.png

  • Round 3: Cards were falling off quickly as Fire's Melee damage was pretty high. My Lava Launcher stayed on, but probably just one more round. Both Disintegrators were still around and hence Demoralise was still being applied.
    image.png
  • Round 4: Lava Launcher was causing them a lot of problems with 3 damage per turn. Finally it got taken out after 4 rounds but 12 damage was very crucial in this tough fight. Amazingly, my Living Lava still held on firmly. I had one card advantage but it was still too close to call given that the opposing cards are Level 3 and 4.

  • Rounds 5-6: My Living Lava went down after 6 rounds and it was 2 v 2 now.
    image.png

  • Rounds 7-8: As both of my cards could attack, that made a difference and I edged out marginally to secure a victory against a team with better cards!

Post Battle

Did my strategy work? I think this was too close to call. Both Fire lineups, both Demoralised by Disintegrators, but I thought I did my best with the set of cards that I had available. Perhaps Lava Launcher contributed massively as it was not affected by Demoralise.

Do I like Disintegrator? Yes, this is one of the most used Chaos Legion Common cards for me, along with Deeplurker. These are the type of cards that don't seem to shine during battles but their passive ability is silently powerful.

Final thoughts? Disintegrator is a must-have card in anyone's deck. It's not always useful because opponents need to use Melee but there are certain rulesets which favours the Demoralise ability massively.

What are your takeaways from this battle? Feel free to comment below, as I am always keen to learn and improve!

As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!

These are the type of cards that don't seem to shine during battles but their passive ability is silently powerful.

And they can easily change the outcome of the battle. Often they can turn a losing into a winning. Or sometimes a losing into a draw. At least based on my personal experience. Mostly I either win or lose. The outcome of my battles are rarely draw, but maybe the draw battles are more common in the higher leagues.

Good luck and have fun.

Yeah it's not easy to get a draw, but once in a while, there are some really close battles where one side wins by 1 or 2 HP.
