Neon Strike - New Card Designs Coming Up!

It has been about a month since I updated on my progress in Neon Strike. You can read about my earlier posts:

As always, it's good to review and take stock of projects that I am involved once in a while and a monthly frequency seems to be a good timeframe. Of course, before I begin, special thanks to @jim-crypto and @taradraz1 for making this post possible, because without them, I wouldn't have a chance to try out Neon Strike, which I believe is currently in the Alpha phase.

Two big news since the last update! The first one is there will be upcoming card designs coming up!

The team has posted these two sample card designs in the Discord channel and is looking for feedback from the community! Personally I thought they look much cooler than the current one! And I like how they displayed the word tiers at the bottom, because there are players who are colourblind and they would rely on the words to know which tier the cards belong to. Kudos to the team!

The second update was not so positive. Missions have been changed from every 8 hours to every 12 hours. This effectively meant that throughout a 24 hour day, one can only complete 2 missions instead of 3 missions. And this translates to a 33% drop in game rewards mathematically. For me, the good part is it's less stressful for me, but the bad part is of course my accumulation of NEON tokens will slow and with this change, I am not sure if it's worth it anymore to buy a 3rd NFT to add to my deck.

Before we go into the discussion of the game, let's look at the Leaderboard!

This month, I have slipped two places from 27th to 29th in the ranking! Not too bad for someone who has logged in almost everyday to complete the missions with my 2 NFTs. It's nice to see new things pop up every now and then, while the development of the game not as fast as some games, they do have a working product in place and the progress is slow and steady.

Now onto my personal journey in the game itself!

To recap, I was given a complimentary NFT to try out this game, I have been playing this almost everyday! And after a few weeks, here's my early review. Initially, I think this was going to be a complicated game that required a lot of thinking (think Splinterlands) but I quickly realised that it's a very chill game. With my sole NFT, most of the effort can be done with a few clicks.

Lots of cards on sale in the market currently! Am looking to add either Legendary or Omega NFT to my collection, or another card of a different faction, but the current mission rewards made me reconsider at least for now.

My Journey So Far

After 11 months of playing almost everyday, my NFTs are up to Level 19 (last update: Level 19 - unchanged) and Level 14 (last update: Level 13) respectively. Of course, it's getting harder and harder to gain levels now.

It's very satisfying to look back and see how far I have come with my account. I started with just 1 NFT and then earned enough Hive to purchase a 2nd NFT (Legendary one!), and now I have 2 NFTs completing missions on a daily basis for me.

Am excited to see what's coming up for the game later on, in the mean time, happy to continue grinding and accumulate more NEON and Hive so that I can purchase more Missions and NFTs if there is a need.

Click To Earn?

So the question is, how much can one earn through this click to earn game? Let's look at the current prices on Tribaldex. Not much changes to the price of NEON since the last update, which is good actually, especially since Hive has increased substantially. One month ago, 100 NEON was trading at 0.20 to 0.47 Hive. Today, the same 100 NEON is trading at 0.21 to 0.27 Hive. Pretty much similar with a smaller range but still very decent in price stability compared to most of the Layer 2 tokens, given that it has already been 11 months.

After about 11 months of playing, I have earned about 22.000 NEON tokens, of which 700 NEON tokens went into the purchase of Mission 2, to collect NEON at a faster rate in the future. That's about 21,300 NEON tokens left. I have converted most of them into SWAP.HIVE.

For record purposes, I have accumulated about 77 Hive from the divestment of NEON tokens, which is already above the cost of 25 Hive for the Legendary NFT. In addition, these NFTs do have their values if I were to sell them on the market next time. :P

As you could probably see, this is not a get rich quick game (no games are like that), but the little NEON tokens stack up over time and it gives me flexibility to do things on Hive, be it buying missions in the game, or even converting and powering up my Hive Power. And I like that as the level of the NFT goes up, the rate of earning NEON is much faster too!

With that, I hope that gives a rough idea of how the game works, and what to expect from a returns perspective. Do note that the game is still in Alpha phase so perhaps more stuff will appear too. Will share more if I find anything interesting later on. If you have any tips, let me know too!
