Could This Be A Troll To The NFT Community?

Try putting yourself in the position of the owner of the centered Golden bored ape used by Elon Musk as his Twitter profile picture. For a minute there, a lot happened in the bored ape space, as the demand for bored ape increased causing the floor price to increase by extra 10 ETH. As usual, some crypto and NFT “notice me” started sending tokens the moment he uploaded that image as his profile picture on Twitter hoping to get his attention. This is a common thing in the NFT communities, this act is usually done to get the attention of these notable prestigious NFT holders. But Elon Musk never stated he owned these NFT.

The moment I saw the update of Elon Musk Twitter profile picture, I knew it was going to be another controversial hype by Elon Musk. Elon Musk is currently the most influential Twitter user on the planet and this is undeniably tied to the fact that he is the richest man in the world. His Twitter profile picture update was noticed and controversial because of his influence and because of who he is, which brought the attention of the Co-Head Digital art of Sotheby’s to tweet asking Elon Musk to either take the picture down or credit him as the picture was a collage created for an auction in 2021.

NFTs are said to be Non-Fungible, meaning can not be exchanged for another and they are said to be unique, giving the owners special feeling of ownership. But these pictures can be screenshot or saved by anybody because they are obviously images. But the thing that differentiates having the original picture and saving it on your phone is that, you don’t own the picture as stated by the blockchain. The blockchain has the history of the picture and has the name or address of the owner there. Hence anyone can easily use any NFT as their profile picture but that’s where it ends. Right click and save them, you can’t do anything with them.

Elon Musk is popular for being a great supporter to the crypto community but the NFT and metaverse community, not really. He once gave the reason he doesn’t support metaverse. He compared it to bringing the TV to close to your face. As for the NFT, after using the Golden bored apes as his profile picture on Twitter, he tweeted

Twitter

I’m sure he did that just to prove that there is nothing special about NFTs, as the statement said it all. Well, he gave his opinion on NFTs and changed his profile picture from the Golden Bored Apes to something else, I think an image of his son holding a toy rocket. I guess this is just a troll to NFTs and the community, as Elon Musk has not showed his support to the community before.

Honestly, I'm getting really tired of this Elon Drama. Now that he has full control over Twitter, I'm sure this is just a little taste of the trolling that is to come. Frankly, I feel he should just leave the freaking NFT community alone and focus on his Space X and going to Mars lol.

But it's like he said:"Free speech means free speech" I guess.

Fucker...
