If you are not aware, there is new mode on the Splinterlands which usually comes with modern and wild format. Now there is one more mode which named survival ! Like it's name, this mode is having it's unique effect which makes only the survive cards can keep playing, while the one get eliminated on the matches have a cooldown of certain times. The cooldown times is vary, depend on the level and rarity of the cards. On my previous try weeks ago, I found my summoner got 9 days cooldown, epic GF Quora for 4 days, and a common monster with 13 days of cooldown ! This makes players need to be very carefully when picking the monsters cause the cooldown is applied on ALL mode includes the guild brawl.

But the other important details that I realize is, on this mode we can use ALL cards includes those old cards which can't be use for modern matches. This mean the old cards is having it's value back, because survive mode is offering better rewards than the modern or wild format. And cause of the cooldown, I think players will likely to play by themselves and not going to use bot. I hope that is how the people with old card feels, cause I also find my old cards is usefull again 😄

My Strategy for the Survival Mode

10 days ago, I got smacked by the other playeyrs, with very strong deck on it's hand. Meanwhile, I go with average cards cause I'm affraid of the cooldowns. I try to analyze and comes with some thought :
#1. Check the opponents power before matches. This is important to measure wether you can win or not, cause if you find powerfull people, you might found your team is wiped out entirely. And in the end, you will get those cards depleted.
#2. If you found your opponent's power is below you, go ALL OUT ! I think it's important because we try to not getting eliminated here rather than just try to win. A win with just 1 monster left mean you can only use those 1 monsters for the next battle except you want to wait for the depleted to get back. With using your optimum cards, you can get easier win and might lose fewer monsters !
#3. If you find your enemies is powerfull, better save the important cards. I don't know if we can flee like forgot to put the deck to avoid the cooldown, but if yes, I think it's a great way to try. But, if you have 3 consecutive flee, you will be unable to play for an hour (applied on modern, not so sure on survival).
#4. Have some decoy cards you are ready to sacrifice. Since the monsters will depleted and having long time of cooldown, I think it's a great option to have some cards that you are ready to sacrifice, this is because you might find it difficult to go without any losing monsters. With some decoy cards, you can sacrifice them to put on the front for the sake of winning the matches with the main cards on the back.
#5. Timing of Game is Important. 10 Days ago, as the mode is just launched, so many strong people are trying the be the faster to reach the highest rank. This is why I found very strong people as well which cause me to completely lose the match. But now as the time flies, we could find easier enemies because those powerfull people is already have a gap on the high rank. This way, we could get the win easily and reduce the chance of losing your loved cards for certain of depleted times.

I try for survival mode again yesterday, and found myself enjoying some win streak !

#6. You still can be lose, so prepare for it ! The last thought is needed to remember that we still can be lose, even if the opponent is having lower level cards. This is because our strategy just got countered. You can say it unlucky or whatever, but just keep in minds that cards you are using might be depleted and so you need to prepare for losing them on certain of times.

After the win streak, I finally taste another defeat !

Conclussion

On survival mode, the usage of wild cards is become more useful cause they can compete again for greater rewards, but all cards that been eliminated on this mode is having depleted effect which cause them unable to be used on any league battle (even for the brawl !). This required a strategy not just to manage the battle for winning but also the cards management for another competition such as ranked play, brawl, or tournament. There are some tips we can share, but always keep in mind that we can lose anytime, so please be prepared for the depleted times !
