RE: Paul Heyman Set To Compete Against Howard Stern Before Going To ECW

I never knew Paul Heyman almost went into radio against Howard Stern. It’s crazy how one decision can change a whole career. If he hadn’t chosen ECW, wrestling might look very different today. Really cool piece of history.

Just to add to the timeline, Paul doesn't show up in ECW until the first TV tapings for "ECW Hardcore TV" in March 1993. These were the shows at Cabrini College and before the building was secured for the first ECW Arena show.
Paul also didn't have complete control of the booking until Eddie Gilbert left in September 1993 (the UltraClash '93 show). When Paul showed up, Eddie and Tod Gordon were still on decent terms, as their relationship fell apart in the late summer of 1993.

Three shows took place at Cabrini College in 1993: March 12, April 2, and April 3. https://thehistoryofwwe.com/ecw-results-1993/

Paul must have had some insights as to how things were going to go with then-Eastern Championship Wrestling to choose ECW in Spring/early-Summer 1993 versus pursuing the radio show opportunities. He took a calculated risk and, depending on how you look at it, the risk paid off. While others would say that the risk backfired in the long run, the fans at least got to have the ECW we remember all these years later.
