2022: The Year of Art?

When I minted my first NFTs on Hive's NFT Showroom six months ago, I had no idea what a journey awaited me. It seemed like a fun way to explore and use my main skills, i.e. art, in the blockchain world... but what I did not realize is how it would change my own perception of art itself.

The format, or the "canvas," of NFT art is different than anything that came before it. Even though on the surface it's the "same as what we had before" -- JPEGs -- in reality, the context of minting art onto blockchains changes everything.

The controversy, the market activity, and the feeling of novelty are not to be taken for granted. These things are life fuel for an artist.

Games, Music, Life

Over the six months ironically my content has moved mostly AWAY from art, towards gaming. Now this channel is crammed full of daily content bringing news and strategy for Axie Infinity and other blockchain games... but what about art?

It's been interesting to "get better at making content" and realize half the battle is siloing -- putting all of your content on one topic in one page, and separating it from everything else.

Now posting a bunch of art content on this page feels counterproductive -- more likely to turn off gaming viewers rather than draw in an art audience.

That's why soon I'm going to move my art and music content over to my original Hive blog, started back in 2017.

This way I can fulfill my desire to engage with the art side of blockchain fully, posting content on a daily or near-daily basis and generally focusing on that side of things, while also being able to provide all of this fun gaming content over here.

It'll also be nice to bring some consistent content back to the old blog page.
