⚡️SPLINTERLANDS BATTLEFIELD: WINNING A REVERSE SPEED RULESET⚡️
😊Hey Battle Mages!
I'd like to extend a warm welcome to another Splinterlands Social Media Challenge week. I truly hope you are all having fun and progressing through the leagues. How fast the days fly by. The current season is now halfway finished, with 7DAYS : 45MIN till the End of Season [EOS]. The competition is becoming stronger by the day, I'm hoping to do well and bag more season chests [hope you are too?].
This post is especially for Novice Splinterlands Players like myself who really want to sharpen their skills and have advance to silver or gold league. I will make an attempt at explaining rulesets and strategies that could hopefully secure a win. Splinterlands strongly encourages players to try out various strategies, and practice combined with a little studying equals purr-fection. I have tried to study a few cards especially with the newly introduced triple ruleset, more reason to and know what cards strongly suits them.
RULESET: Simply put, it is a set of defined and agreed battle rules. A set of instructions that determines what is allowable in battle and how it is handled between competitors.
Glossary term - Ruleset
Before the start of any battle, each player is shown what Rule is allowed in combat and it is extremely beneficial to read and strategize accordingly. Splinterlands has over 30 rulesets, a ruleset I will be introducing you to in this post is the REVERSE SPEED.
REVERSE SPEED RULESET implies that monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.
Hence, Players are advised to
Pick monsters with 1 speed because they have the best chance of evading Melee and Ranged attacks. Beware of monsters with Enrage, Swift and Last Stand, as these abilities increase speed when activated
I thoroughly enjoy this ruleset and have realized the EARTH SPLINTER to be most helpful for one important reason;
✅They have the slowest monsters with the lowest mana cost.
I mean it is common sense yah? imagine running on land or fly in the sky? obviously flying will be faster, land slower...well water slowest, soooo wait eh? Okay that's a terrible analogy but hope you get my point😂
I have a battle to demonstrate this ruleset and a possible lineup that works for low mana battle. Before I show you the battle, I'll introduce you to the monsters and why I picked them.
WIZARD OF EASTWOOD
The most underrated summoner of the earth splinter, the WIZARD OF EASTWOOD, is a summoner with the supernatural ability to take away 
-2 Shield/Defense from all enemy monsters, giving his friendly warriors great advantage to inflict maximum damage on enemies.
👉WHY I PICKED WIZARD OF EASTWOOD
The ruleset of this battle was REVERSE SPEED, BRAIR PATCH AND MAGIC REFLECT. Summoner WIZARD OF EASTWOOD is particularly effective in such rulesets. I envisaged my opponent to come at me with Melee attackers, the briar patch grants all monsters the thorn ability which does double damage back at attackers, once my slowest monsters invade, they'll cause the needed damage and secure the victory.
FAILED SUMMONER - FIRST LINE
FAILED SUMMONER although failed as a summoner, he however has proven himself as an excellent warrior who fights fiercely. He has no attack type, but his +9 health points will take enemies by surprise. His Magic reflect
ability does reduced damage back when hit by magic attack monster. He then Demoralizes
the enemies with melee attack. An 8-star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ warrior deserving of his moniker.
👉WHY I PICKED FAILED SUMMONER
I picked FAILED SUMMONER mainly because of his ability to reduce the melee attack of all enemy monsters. This will serve a major disadvantage to them.
FUNGUS FIEND - SECOND LINE
The FUNGUS FIEND is a legendary warrior card and master of the underworlds that thrives within caverns, deep inside swamps, or even within the hollowed-out trunks of great trees. It is able to burrow underground and bursts forth to attack it's unsuspecting enemy.
This cards attack type is Melee, a Rare card and it is part of the Neutral unit. It also cost absolutely 0-mana to use in battle , as a result, it will be an excellent card for all, especially low mana battles.
👉WHY I PICKED FUNGUS FIEND
I picked FUNGUS FIEND because of it's zero mana, and as a Melee attack card, it pairs well with Mylor Crowling, making it an Anti-melee.
QUEEN MYCELIA - THIRD LINE
QUEEN MYCELIA, a terrifying creature that will attack and kill before her enemy think to blink. She is a 3-star⭐️⭐️⭐️ warrior with magical abilities. In battle, her evil role has a variety of effects, the 'triage
' which helps to heal backline team warrior that has taken the most hit. Her ability works well to 'protect
' her team by giving them double armor. she 'amplifies
' the magic reflect, thorns and return fire ability of her team warriors by +1.
👉WHY I PICKED QUEEN MYCELIA
I picked QUEEN MYCELIA because of her 1-speed which is perfect fit for this reverse speed ruleset. Her Protect will further fortify her team with +2 defense while healing the backline monsters. She is wthe card you need on the battlefield.
⚔️DOCTOR BLIGHT - FOURTH LINE
A 3-star⭐️⭐️⭐️ legendary DOCTOR BLIGHT who is deserving of his title because of his strong dark occult magic and diverse set of abilities. He causes great Affliction
by making enemies wounds not heal, and then Poison
enemies every round of battle. His Camouflage ability
makes it impossible to attack and kill except if placed in first position. He Scavenges
for himself the health of every fallen monsters. DOCTOR BLIGHT is a monster that very well suits almost all battles.
👉WHY I PICKED DOCTOR BLIGHT
I picked DOCTOR BLIGHT because of his 1-speed which is perfect fit for this reverse speed ruleset. His Affliction will prevent opponent from healing and his poison will deplete their health faster while he scavenges off them. This is perfection🔥
SWAMP THING - FIFTH LINE
SWAMP THING, a 5-star⭐️⭐️⭐️ Epic monster who is very powerful in magic. He goes on to Weaken
the all enemies by reducing their health and then 
Slows down enemies by reducing their speed.
👉WHY I PICKED SWAMP THING
I picked SWAMP THING mainly because of 1-speed ability and also his ability to reduce a max health of the enemy. The Slow was a Miss, shouldn't have that in a reverse speed against an opponent, only makes them stronger.
GOBLIN TOWER - SIXTH LINE
GOBLIN TOWER, is a 3-star⭐️⭐️⭐️ mighty fortresses crafted by goblins. These weapons of war are rarely called out to battle and only used in the most dire of circumstances. This is a powerful and fortified tower with the ability to 
blast the enemy monster adjacent to their target.
👉WHY I PICKED GOBLIN TOWER
I picked GOBLIN TOWER again because of their 1-speed point and definitely the blast ability which will cause twice the damage to enemies, depleting their health points faster.
⚔️ THE BATTLE - EARTH AGAINST WATER ⚔️
The battle started off with summoners using their powers to gain more advantage over the other. While WIZARD OF EASTWOOD took away from enemy monsters +2 defense, ENEMY SUMMONER BORTUS took away -1 Magic from my team.
GOBLIN TOWER launched first attack against ENEMY-GELATINOUS CUBE, there was a blast that affected ENEMY-KELP INITIATES health aswell. Because my team of monsters were the slowest in battle, they had full advantage of taking first strikes, one after the other.
My opponents team was strong, good lineup, but FAILED SUMMONER instantly broke their line by killing ENEMY-VENARI WAVESMITH and ENEMY-MERMAID HEALER.
Soon, ENEMY-PIRATE ARCHER, took out FAILED SUMMONER, brining FUNGUS FIEND to the battle front. The briar patch worked well against my enemies, eliminating them one after the other, DOCTOR BLIGHT soon came to front line and with 13-healths, he and rest two monsters brought down enemy's stronghold ENEMY-GELATINOUS CUBE.
VICTORY!!!🎉👉FINAL BATTLE NOTES:
Reversed speed can add an interesting layer of strategy and challenge to battles by requiring players to carefully consider their opponents' speed and strategize accordingly.
In my opinion Reverse speed makes battle more unpredictable which is thrilling. Players can't simply rely on a predictable turn order to guide their actions because slower monsters will attack first.
Reverse speed, on the other hand, can make battles more difficult because it gives slower monsters a significant advantage.
Players will also need to rely on cards with special abilities as shown in this battle [Doctor Blight with the poison and afflict, Swamp Thing with the weaken and Queen Mycelia with protect, amplify and triage, finally, Goblin Tower with the blast] to counter this advantage and emerge victorious.
There are other 1-speed monsters, but if you notice, I am a very huge fan of the Earth element and take my time to study a Splinter at time, at present, Water and Earth is my strongest fist in battle. Also depending on the League you're battling and what special abilities you're looking for, I believe these monster mentioned above will almost always be found useful in this ruleset.
I also admit that I don't know everything, hence I'm always on the look out for seasoned players whom i learn from daily. Feel free to drop any tips your suggestions, I strongly welcome it😊

I think the best element for play reverse speed is the earth for sure, with Mylor and obsidian you can create interesting set ups too! great post!
