Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets: Reversed Speed Ruleset
Hello Hive
In order to unravel another puzzle that exists in the varieties of the spl rulesets, I present to you a battle fought with the reversed speed ruleset as specified by this week's battle mage secrets theme. The sections to come will provide insight into the possible better strategies that can help one get a win when faced with the given ruleset. It will also present the teams and give reasons behind the selection of each team member. Before I move into that properly, kindly take a look at the announcement post of this challenge and decide if it interests you to participate
Reversed Speed Ruleset Explained
In splinterlands terms, the reversed speed rulesets stipulate that monsters with the lowest speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks. What this does is take away the speed advantage of high-speed monsters and put it in favor of the low-speed monsters. In this case, using monsters with very low speed is recommended. In all battles, speed is always of great importance. Having a set of monsters that will take turns before that of your enemy can help you inflict non-recoverable damage to the enemy thereby leading to your success in such a battle. On conventional rulesets, getting your team to play first requires the use of high-speed monsters and summoners and if possible, with the inclusion of swiftness ability monsters but all this will work against you in a reserved speed ruleset.
Battle Strategy
In selecting strategies, it is required for one to make a choice of the attack type they want to make the majority in the battle. In the case of this battle, the main attack came from the magic family. Without neglecting the ruleset, the strategy went for the monsters with the lowest speed giving the team a first-strike advantage. The team utilized a speed cap of two.
Moving away from the case of speed, it is also important to use monsters with high damage as this will help eliminate the opponent's team faster. Just as in every other battle, the involvement of some specific ability contributes to the team's success. My six-man team in this case was equipped with seven abilities. While some of the abilities were useful to the battle, others weren't. The work of each ability is discussed in the team selection section.
Lastly, the team always needs to be protected, and in this case, the protection came in the form of two armor guarding each team member from physical damage

Team Selection
Since magic-attack monsters constitute the majority of the team, it is important to give them a summoner that can enhance their weapon. Obsidian have the stat of enhancing magic weapons and as such, that qualifies it to be selected for this battle. The summoner also has a decent mana cost and gives a wider room to accommodate other monsters.
FAILED SUMMONER
Why should use a non-fighting monster as a defender? The truth is it might not make a lot of sense for everyone but for people who understand the game it sure does. Failed Summoner might not have the ability to attack but it does have the counterspell ability which means it reflects back magic damage to magic monsters that attack it and this gets worse for the attacker if there is an amplifier ability in the team. However, if you ever wonder why I used it, just know that counterspell is the reason.
MAGI OF CHAOS
Magi of Chaos is one of the two monsters from a different element used in the team. The choice of using the monster is because, at the level at which it was used, it has three magic weapons and just two speeds. With the help of the summoner, this magic weapon rose to four and that was very crucial for the battle.
QUEEN MYCELIA
Mycelia made the magic reflected by the failed summoner worse for the enemy's magic monster by amplifying the reflection. Mycelia also gave two armor protection to each team member using her protect ability and she also fought with two magic weapons. Her selection is greatly justified by all these wonderful stats.
GOBLIN PSYCHIC
For the low-speed requirement, this monster was selected. It also has a decent magic weapon and would have been a tool for stopping healing in the opponent's team if not that the ruleset also included that of healed-out
DOCTOR BLIGHT
Blight which is also from the neutral element is a very low-speed monster and thereby suitable for this ruleset. Aside from the low-speed advantage of this monster, it also has the poison effect which hits its targets with poison and makes them lose two health extra per round fought.
KRON THE UNDYING
This monster which was positioned at the back also has a high weapon and low speed which is the reason behind its selection. The healed-out ruleset took its ability away but that didn't affect the battle in any way
