Battle Mage Sesrets_Equal Opportunity Ruleset
Hello Battle Mages
A warm welcome to you all. It's another edition of the battle mage secrets weekly and today I present a battle with the given ruleset which is the equal opportunity ruleset. In a world of fairness, this ruleset represents fairness as it gives all monsters the opportunity to attack from any direction irrespective of their attack type. While you wait to get to the major discussion of the day, let me redirect you to the mother post at the splinterlands community where you can see the guidelines for participating in this weekly battle presentation
Now, Let's talk about equal opportunity-Ruleset
Ruleset_Equal Opportunity

Represented with an eye symbol, equal opportunity is one of the rulesets of splinterlands battle and also can be found in some monsters as an ability of theirs. The equal opportunity allows all monsters to attack from any position they are placed be it melee, ranged, or magic monster. For monsters with this ability, when battling with the fog of war ruleset, they tend to be useless unless placed in the front row. Apart from monsters attacking from any position they are positioned in this ruleset, they also tend to attack the weakest link in the opponent's team. Let's say there's a monster with just one health in the opponent team, that monster will be the first target unless that monster possesses the camouflage ability. Choosing strategies when faced with this ruleset becomes a bit harder because it makes things vague. However, there are some things to consider before selecting a team for this ruleset and that is discussed in the next section below.
Picking Strategy for Equal Opportunity Ruleset
When selecting a strategy for this ruleset, it is important to consider the ruleset that accompanies it, that's if there are any. For equal opportunity only battle, there is a need to fortify one's team to withstand all forms of attack. First, if time permits, it is advisable to check the last game played by your opponent, this will give you an insight into the kind of monster (Summoners/monsters) the opponent has but this isn't a guarantee though.
One major thing to note is that equal opportunity doesn't defile the taunt ability. This simply implies that monsters can still be distracted by taunt ability. With this in mind using a monster with taunt ability becomes sacrosanct. The distraction such monsters offer can open up the opportunity to take out the opponent's team while they struggle with the taunt. However, If using taunt is the case, it is important to give support to such monsters by including monsters that can heal their health and repair their armor.
Secondly, life becomes too difficult for your team if they are not properly protected with armor because melee monsters with double-strike abilities can make life miserable for them. Just have in mind, anti melee, anti-magic, and anti-ranged abilities can save you from the havoc the opponent plans to unleash so if you can add them all, it is advisable.
In addition, there are a few summoners that offer camouflage to its team, it could be a good idea to use such. Why use this? Monsters with camouflage can't be directly attacked unless they get to the front row. In other words, if you deploy such a summoner, the opponent will focus on your front-row monster which can be greatly fortified to stand for longer battle time. But have in mind that sneak and snipes don't ignore their ability for opportunity ruleset.
The Battle

Available Elements | Water, Earth, and Death |

Team Selection
This team selection was done considering the elements that were available for selection. For this battle, only three elements were eligible for selection and my team came from the water element. The teams used are discussed below.
Name: ALRIC STORMBRINGER
RARE Water Summoner
Stat: +1 Magic attack✔️
Putting into consideration the elements available, it was best suited to use my water deck which is equipped more with magic monsters. However, to strengthen these monsters it was best to use Alric which increases magic attack. Alric Low mana cost also gave room for more team members in the battle
DJINN OSHANNUS
For some reason, I did believe the enemy will come against me with the earth element monster so I had to position Djinn Oshannus in the front row. I did make sure the monster was deployed from above level one which means it battled having void, and phase ability, the two abilities which make magic monsters miserable. Djinn also has quite a dangerous attack which I planned to enhance further with the death of the monster directly behind it.
VENARI MARKSRAT
On the battlefield, this monster is no dangerous fighter but its death does mean a lot for monsters directly close to it. When a monster with martyr ability dies, monsters directly close to it gain +1 in all their stats. This monster was rightly placed as the weakest link to get eliminated first so that both Djinn & Wavesmith stats will be enhanced. It played out the right way it was intended.
VENARI WAVESMITH
I did mention before that armor protection is important for this ruleset. This is exactly where Wavesmith comes in. Wavesmith's protect ability gave the team 2 armor each which was a guard against monsters that will want to be physical. The death of Marksrat also made wavesmith more dangerous in the face of battle as seen in the presented battle
RULER OF THE SEAS
Extending damage to nearby monsters is also a faster way of winning battles. In this regard, the monster Ruler of the Sea was used to utilize its blast ability to ensure nearby monsters of its target get a portion of the damage. With these abilities and the team lineup, the opponent's reliance on the bloodlust monster was cut short
MUSA SALINE
While we waited for monsters to be eliminated, the legendary Musa Saline was ready to gain a life from each monster that leaves the battlefield. An advantage it gets from having the scavengers ability. Her three health turned to eight at the end of the battle not to mention her two magic attack contributions to the battle.
WATER ELEMENTAL
The self-heal water elemental completed the lineup with three ranged damage and the ability to regain a portion of its health when damaged. Also useful from this monster was its fast battling speed
That will be all for this week. Please join me next week for another battle mage secrets challenge same place. Leave a comment on how the strategy can be better or any other of your choice.
