BATTLE MAGE SECRETS_Going the distance

Hello There

I'm happy to have you back on today's battle mage secrets post. It's been a great week of activeness on the battlefield. Just like always, a ruleset has been chosen for this week's challenge and that ruleset is referred to as going the distance. Before I move on to discuss my knowledge of this ruleset, I would like to extend my invitation to all game lovers to make sure they are actively playing the spl game. For those who also will like to participate in the weekly battle mage secrets but don't know how the best place to start will be the weekly announcement post which details the guidelines for participation. Going The Distance as a Ruleset

Going the distance is a ruleset that permits the use of ranged attack monsters only. What this means is that when facing this ruleset, the system automatically removes every other monster other than the ranged attack ones. The selection of teams in this ruleset could be a tricky one because aside from monsters with the close range ability, other ranged attack monsters can't attack from the front row. One of the biggest difficulties to face in this ruleset is having to go against a side summoned by a summoner with the return fire stat. However, using such a summoner does not guarantee success, it only increases the odds of winning.

Strategies for engaging in Going the Distance Battles

The first option should be the summoner's choice. As pointed out above, engaging the service of a summoner with the return fire ability will increase the odds of winning but that isn't all that is required to win such battles. On the same choice of summoners, a second option will be using a summoner with the stat that reduces the enemy's ranged weapon. Having covered the area of summoners, there are abilities necessary to be on the battlefield.

One of such important ability is Headwinds. With the headwinds ability, the enemy's ranged monsters take a minus one to their weapon further reducing their damage effect on the opponent's team.

Now, narrowing this discussion to my strategy in the presented battle. In the battle presented here, there are four key abilities that led to the battle's success. Those are Repair, Headwinds, Triage, and Taunt ability.

First, the taunt monster served as a distraction, attracting all attacks to itself thereby sparing the others from being attacked. The headwinds monster on the other hand reduces the damage sent out by the enemy's monsters. While the damage to the taunt monster is reduced by the headwinds ability, the Triage monster ensured that the portion of the health of the taunt monster which is damaged is refilled back to default. It doesn't end there, as the repair ability monster ensured that armors taken down are rebuilt. The repair aspect was also very effective as the game also had an armored-up ruleset.

TEam Selection

Summoner: ALRIC STORMBRINGER
Rarity/Element: Rare/Water
Stat: +1 magic damage (n/a in presented battle)

The summoner Alric on a ruleset that allows summoners' stat wouldn't have been the best choice but since the summoner's stat is not applicable to this battle, using Alric wasn't a problem. Without the summoner's stat, the aim is to be able to summon the monsters trusted for the job and Alric was able to summon the required team.

SWAMP SPITTER

Everyone knows that in normal circumstances, this monster is not a good suit for the front row but this circumstance didn't seem normal. Swamp Spitter on its own has armor which coupled with the armored-up ruleset gives it more. Also, having diverted all enemy's attacks to taunt, the only attack expected by this monster is the one from the enemy's front-row monster which this monster is capable of handling. The repair from this monster contributed to ensuring that neither it nor the taunt monster was eliminated from the battlefield

AXEMASTER

The Epic AxeMaster known for double strikes contributed to making sure the target gets eliminated fast. Although its missing rate was high in the battle. Axemaster gave its damage to the battle just as every other monster just that its own came in doubles.

NAGA WINDMASTER

Even with the distraction from the taunt monster, enemies with high damage can still cause unrecoverable damage to the team. This is where Naga WindMaster comes in, to checkmate the damage from the enemy by reducing them by one. The wind-master was able to bring the damage received by the taunt monster to just four which made it easy for the triage to refill. Obviously, the enemy would have wished for it to end there but nope, it didn't as this monster also brought the shatter ability making sure that its target armors get shattered at one hit.

ANGELIC MANDARIN

Angelic Mandarin made the major contribution of refilling the health damage on its team. This is one big factor that ensured that the taunt monster never gets eliminated from the battle. Also contributing its damage to defeat the enemy, Angelic was fully in control and made sure damaged health was restored at every round.

WAVE BROOD

Please hit me says the taunt monster. Then save me, my dear teammates. This was just the work of the taunt monster. Attract the targets to itself, then, rely on teammates' ability to remain in battle.

There is nothing else to say about the taunt monster other than what is said already. However, it is worth noting that the success of this battle came as a result of a collective effort from all team members.

That will be all for this week. I hope you enjoyed the read. Please join me next week for another battle mage secrets challenge same place. Leave a comment on how the strategy can be better or any other of your choice.
