BATTLE MAGE SECRETS_Broken Arrows

Hello There
I present to you today another battle strategy that excludes the ranged monsters in this week's battle mage secrets. Battle mage secrets is a weekly challenge that allows players to showcase a strategy given the proposed game-set rule. It is free to all players who are interested in sharing their battle strategies with others. To participate in this week's battle mage secrets, kindly visit the Splinterlands community and locate the post that states the guidelines involved. Broken Arrows

The broken arrows set rule simply means that ranged attack monsters are excluded from the battle leaving the battlefield with only the option of melee or magic attack monsters. When ranged monsters are removed from the collection, the strategy to be selected becomes easy and precise. I will be presenting my preference in strategy when faced with this game rule set.

Team Preference for Broken Arrows Rule set

With ranged monsters gone, one may choose to use magic or melee monsters or a combination of both. From my experiences, the first thought I'd have when faced with this rule set is to employ the service of magic monsters. However, when relying on magic monsters, there is a need to checkmate melee attacks on your team and this can be done by including monsters with demoralizing abilities. When selecting a magic strategy, it is worth noting that your opponent might be your think alike, so including monsters with the following abilities may be of great help. Abilities such as void, void armor, and phase may give you success against a magic side while abilities, like demoralize, shield, and protect, will help against a melee side.

Let's take a look at my battle for this week and how many of the recommended abilities were included.

Some of the abilities found on my team include Void armor, Reflection shield, Resurrect, Dodge, and flying. These abilities have a way of affecting magic or melee monsters.

Team Selection

DELWYN_DRAGONSCALE

Although Delwyn isn't the only magic summoner available for selection it's the one that fits the category of monsters I intend to use. Delwyn which is a dragon summoner gives a plus one magic stats to magic monsters. The mana didn't pose any threat since the battle mana cap was large enough to accommodate high mana monsters.

AGOR LONGTAIL
This legendary dragon monster offers a dual strike which involves melee and magic. In such a match, it makes a good defense. It possesses abilities that negatively affect both melee and magic monsters. While the flying ability makes it harder for melees to hit their targets, the void armor ability is a nightmare for magic monsters as they will have to take its armor down before gaining access to its health

VENATOR_KINJO

If the game set rule was to be only broken arrows, this monster will not have been used but because it included explosive weaponry, Venator Kinjo's reflection shield ability became a necessity. The reflection shield stopped the explosions from penetrating the other team members.

OSHUUR_CONSTANTIA

Having in mind that because of the taunt ability of the defense monster, all enemy monsters will go for it until it's down, it became necessary to add a monster with a resurrect ability to force the enemy into taking the defense monster down twice. This is a perfect distraction strategy to inflict unrecoverable damage on the enemy's team.

SPIRIT_MINER

Melee monsters don't find it funny going against monsters with dodge ability. The inclusion of this monster was intended at punishing melee monsters but unfortunately, the opponent happened to be a think alike person who also went for mostly magic monsters

GOLD_DRAGON

BLACK_DRAGON

Both the Gold Dragon and the Black Dragon came to the battlefield with a flying ability that has the intent of stressing melee monsters. The only addition is that the black dragon was able to leech life. Both monsters who played a similar role hardly felt the impact of the game because it appeared too easy that no attack came in their direction.

In my opinion, I believe the battle was too easy. The enemy appeared so unprepared. In a game that involves explosive weaponry, placing a monster with taunt ability in-between two vulnerable monsters is a huge mistake

That will be all for this week. Please join me next week for another battle challenge same place.
