Even if Orange Man admits tariffs were a retarded idea and fires Peter Navarro, which he should, China doesn't have to start de-escalating. I hope both sides de-escalate immediately, but from a purely Chinese perspective it doesn't make any sense.

They are much better off waiting a few months for US inventories and warehouses to be empty, for prices to meaningfully go up, for the average obese whale to start losing their shit, and then start negotiating from a position of maximum leverage.

AFAIK ships aren't leaving China for the US. Lots of freight has been put on hold. So no, it's not just a show, unfortunately.
Thanks to people like Musk, I think Trump now knows how much damage this could do, and quickly.

So it's really up to China now on how much damage they want to inflict. I hope none, but from their own perspective, it would make sense to keep the trade war (basically an embargo at this point) going for 1-2 months at least.

Dumping is the promised land. We want to reach a world of post-scarcity ASAP. We want dumping in everything as soon as possible.

Robotics and automation will bring us closer to the promised land. The point at which everything is so cheap it is basically free.
