🍉 [MELN] 1UP Operator Weekly Lab Report: eXode

Greetings, eXode pilots and civilians! Welcome to the eleventh weekly eXode #oneup report! This week we will be discussing recent actions taken with the new account, @cartel-exode, which has fallen under my responsibility! Well, let's get started with what this account has (along with what it doesn't), what we have done, and what we can/plan to do.

What Assets Does the Cartel Have So Far?

When @flauwy asked me when a good time to join eXode was, I told him what I tell everyone: the earlier you get in, the better! I advised him to go with the triple starter pack since it maximizes gameplay options/styles and he used my referral code (see below if you need one), which gave the account two free boosters.
When I logged into the account for the first time, I saw the unopened, soul-bound boosters and took the liberty of opening them. They contained some useful items for our journey. The Drachian Assault Troopers were much appreciated but how would I use them? They only have the trait: Drachian Republic.

That's where this card comes into play. The Drachian Commissar, a passenger. I personally don't trust this guy but maybe I'm wrong. He does seem pretty disciplined; he's even wearing two collars! Well, like him or not, I'm going to need him. Merely having him as a passenger on my ship allows me to use +2 more Drachian faction cards! Since we currently don't have this card yet I will simply transfer one over from my personal collection. Now we can recruit those 2 Drachian troopers for our crew. Hurrah! There's one small detail still, oh nevermind, we'll get to that later! Apart from the faction bonus, the commissar also adds some investigation points which can be used to reveal the values of certain skills during Crew Generation (just before Evacuation). Another good reason you could stack a few of these.

The "Universal Fixer" Suit that also came out of the booster packs will be exclusively for our maintenance man, since it grants that half bonus in Mechanics. He will need that to fix the hyperdrive.

Evacuation!

Maybe now would be a good time to mention that we are military but everybody forgot their guns at work. What's that? You say this ship comes with 3 Atonis rifles? Well, thank you for that helpful piece of information, Lu. Perhaps I could've used that before looters killed two of my men! Luckily, the cargohold was defended by Cort and Albert, the Drachian troopers. One of them was out lollygagging but returned promptly once summoned.

For Away Teams+, when we could send out new beefed up versions of our decks, we should definitely invest in some weapons. They are very cheap on the market. Some weapons and prefabs from the Tom Settler contract would be good I think.

Once work on the hyperdrive was completed and a few trips of fuel loaded into the tank, we blasted our way out of that old galaxy.

Oksana, our epic Veteran Pilot (also acquired as part of the referral bonus), turned out to be an inferior space pilot when compared to our Weapons Officer, Ortis. He took the helm when we came out of hyperspace and we approached Planet Coune without incident other than planetary scans and spot maintenance.

Ortis, a relatively inexperienced pilot, managed to pass nearly all landing rolls during the latest colonization phase. He only failed at calculating the most direct route to the landing zone and failed when peak atmospheric friction was in place. Other than that, the landing went smoothly.

Now that we're on the surface, we can begin investigating what the planet has to offer. The first mission has already been sent out to investigate EBE-1, or Extraterrestrial Biological Entity-1. We will have new intel on this creature by tomorrow morning. We have plans to also investigate at least one of every other resource (plants, ore, minerals) but may prioritize other actions such as settling passengers, offloading cargo (which we think we got some goodies), and let's not forget about claiming intel on planetary dangers!

Overall, I think we landed a pretty solid planet. The only thing I am concerned about is the single ore on my planet. Did I even need to bring the drill? Maybe I'll be able to make lots of different alloys with it and those 3 minerals. I believe I landed in the Fol Swampland in an oceanic subsector of the planet. I tried to land in the Felos Canyon region since it has the best comfort but there were no landing zones, apparently.

And with that, cartel-exode is all caught up with the Away Teams and upcoming Colonization Challenge. I can't wait until the latter progresses. It will be be very interesting to personally see the data of two very different planets in the new galaxy. This will be an interesting project indeed!
