🎸★Our Shan (Tai) theatrical instruments and the Rising Star game 🎶🎼

Dear friends,

Relating to our Shan (Tai) instruments, there are more traditional instruments and today, I will present about our theatrical instrument set. They are used for playing background music for opera and stage performance. Those performances can be mostly found at pagoda festivals and some other ceremonies like Shan New Year.

The instrument set includes percussion and string instruments and the following is the Youtube video of the instruments being playing. We usually sing and dance along with the music at the festivals and ceremonies. It is quite fun for the participants and also to the visitors.

We also have stage opera where those instruments are played in the background. However, with the influence of of modern music and lack of support from the government, those music are not promoted and very much popular. How to play those musical instruments should be taught in schools like playing Burmese musical instruments is being taught in schools. So, it is the responsibility of Tai people to maintain and promote our own music and I am glad to see that we can still maintain those tradition and culture. For the music, we cannot resist the changing trend but I think we should observe and maintain our traditional ways of playing music because they are the indications of our tradition and culture values.
