Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Combo Chronicles!

Hello guys, this is my entry to the "Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Combo Chronicles!". If you want to participate and read more about the challenge, click here.

It has been over a year since I shared my last Splinterlands challenge post. The constant upgrades and new cards and sets made me feel a bit overwhelmed, and I felt like left behind. But how can I say no to that game, which pulled me towards this Hive ecosystem? There have been numerous changes to the UI and new cards, so I have a lot to learn about the new synergies and combinations. So today, I will be showcasing a time-tested combo which I used to play, and it still works to this day.

I will showcase a team synergy that works really well in Life Element, featuring cards such as Uriel the Purifier and Adelaide Brightwing (among others).

Let's start by looking at the stats of these two main cards in detail.

Uriel the Purifier

CARD
RARITY
Legendary
ELEMENT
Life
Attack Type
Magic
MANA COST
11
ABILITIES/BUFFS
Flying, Recharge, Heal

Uriel the Purifier is a Legendary monster capable of doing high damage while keeping the frontline secure because of its huge health and armour. It starts being a legend (at least in my books) after level 2 when it receives the Heal ability that helps it last even longer. This is my go-to unit for high mana battles. But it is not great on its own. If somehow we can repair its armour or even better resurrect it on the battlefield, then it would be a great option. That's exactly the role of our Adelade Brightwing in the lineup.

Adelade Brightwing

CARD
RARITY
Legendary
ELEMENT
Life
Attack Type
Magic
MANA COST
7
ABILITIES/BUFFS
Flying, Repair, Resurrect

Adelade Brightwing is an excellent support monster capable of repairing the armour of units in the frontline while also resurrecting one of them. Doing 2 magic damage with only 7 mana cost is good as well. These two are capable of taking the battle deeper.

Let me show you a sample battle that I recently played using both of the above-mentioned cards. Let's see the lineup for that battle and talk about my strategies later.

My Lineup & Strategy

This is my lineup for the battle

Position
Summoner/Monsters
Summoner
Grandmaster Rathee
Position 1
Uriel the Purifier
Position 2
Gelatinous Cube
Position 3
Bila the Radiant
Position 4
Djinn Renova
Position 5
Time Meddler
Position 6
Adelade Brightwing

It was a high mana cap battle with the Standard ruleset, which is perfect for showcasing this strategy.

Grandmaster Rathee used to be my go-to summoner for this synergy because it gives additional armour to all the friendly units, along with Void Armour (which is a crucial part of this strategy) and Amplify.

Void Armour was necessary, so Uriel the Purifier's Shield is put to good use even if it faces magic attacks. It was placed in the first position in my lineup to not let the enemy team reach the mid order that quickly.

Gelatinous Cube was used as a backup unit to further strengthen the frontline. Its Scavenger ability is very handy and can easily make it a very effective unit at the start of the lineup.

The middle order was packed with powerful attacks. Bila the Radiant was doing 3 magic attack damage with abilities like Life Leech and Divine Shield. Both of which extend the life span of this unit even further.

Djinn Renova was placed in the fifth position in my lineup. It dealt 3 magic attack damage as well, and with the help of its 'Strengthen' ability, it made my lineup even healthier. It's always good to have units that buff all the friendly monsters in the lineup. It synergises with the combo very well.

Time Meddler was another powerful magic attacker which comes with extra armour and a good amount of health that can last a long time.

And as I already told you about the MVP unit of the lineup, the Adelade Brightwing, which can resurrect one unit from the dead and keeps repairing armour after each round. This, combined with Uriel's Healing ability and the summoner's Void armour (and extra armour), is one of the best combos. That's why it gave me a smooth victory.

Now that my lineup was set, it was time for battle.

I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube.

Conclusion

As you just saw in the above battle, Uriel the Purifier works well with Adelade Brightwing and summoner Grandmaster Rathee. Both of which help Uriel last much longer than it would have... also, it resurrects with all of its armour that cannot be bypassed by the attackers in this strategy, making it last even longer. The only drawback of this strategy is that it is not effective in low mana cap battles. Apart from that small drawback, it works well. You can replace Adelade Brightwing with other units with repair and resurrect abilities. It will be very effective. As I said in my intro, I have been away from Splinterlands for some time, so I haven't experimented with new card sets yet. Maybe there are better cards with more effective or cheaper mana cost using a similar strategy.

Let me know your thoughts about these cards and their synergy.

Thanks for reading...
