Is Now Time To Buy Packs or Buy Cards??

Firstly you need to ask yourself are you coming at this from an "Investment" perspective, because if you are and you opening packs then your not using your investment wise! If however you are buying packs and opening them from a pure "Game" "Enjoyment" perspective then go ahead have fun at the end of the day this is a game, yes you can earn some serious money but at its core its a card came!

I will be focusing on in this post the "Investment" perspective and if Buying "Chaos" packs is better that buying individual cards!
Lets say your using "Hive-Engine" to get your packs and not through "Splinterlands" directly so the cost currently as of 12th Feb 2022 is 3 Hive which equates to around $3.

To Open or Not:

Open - Currently on https://www.splintercards.com/ "Chaos" pack value is around $3.53 - So you may think "Great for each pack I open I am at least get $0.53 profit" however that’s an average so although there’s a chance, There is also the chance you get less than that say $3 as an estimate you still get your money back roughly and you get the cards but you loose out of 300 air drop points which would go towards your SPS. Yes there’s a chance you pull a GF Legendary however as your see below your chances of that are very slim and to subtract from any profit you think your making, we need to take into consideration "Potions" and the cost of them!

Conclusion

So as you see after all the costs the likely hood is you come out $0.09 in profit. So my advice would be to hold them don’t open! Especially if you believe that once all the packs sell out then the price on "Hive-Engine" could go up to match "Untamed" if you want more details on that check out this link where I delve into why I believe the packs should reach $40 a pack! Buy Individual Cards over Packs

So as we have seen above a pack will cost you roughly $3 and your likely to get 4 Commons and 1 Rare so what would buying 4 Commons and 1 Rare cost you on the market currently and remember buying packs its a lottery you have no idea what your getting whereas buying from the market you get to choose!

4 x Commons = $0.16
1 x Rare = $0.14
Total Cost = $0.30 vs $3 saving you $2.70!!

Lets look at it another way what would $3 get you:

$3 into Commons = 75 Commons which equates to 375 CP
$3 into Rares = 22 Rares which equates to 440 CP

So 75 Commons that you get to choose or 22 Rares again that you get to choose or open a "Chaos" pack and possibly get 4 random Commons and 1 Random Rare...Need I say anymore...

Conclusion

At the end of the day each player can play the game however they like and use their investment however they like, you also don’t need to be as linear as one or the other, I myself buy packs I open them I hold them I also buy cards off the market, the above is just to highlight the extreme one sided way a player could go! And look we know some get more luck than others even though there’s only 0.064% chance that a GF Legendary drops there’s still that chance and we know what those costs come in at. However if it was me and I had to pick one purely from an investment point I wouldn’t buy packs to open I would hold a few and buy the cards on the market while you have the chance because come May 2022 when these packs sell out..Packs will rise and cards will rise!
