Their Exceptional Santa discovered a bottle of beer, and instinctively chose to smash it. To me and my wife, this might seem like an odd ritual—but not to Santa, who found it deeply awe-inspiring. Yes, a bottle of beer was the chosen item.

Their Exceptional Santa longed for a bottle of coke—one they would occasionally embrace. To everyone we know, this might seem delightfully bizarre, but not to Santa, who believed the idea to be nothing short of spectacular. Naturally, a bottle of coke was the thing selected.

Their Exceptional Santa yearned for a custard pie—one he would sometimes place gently into the bath with him. To my children, it would seem utterly peculiar, but to Santa, it was nothing less than miraculous. A custard pie, oddly enough, was the item of choice.

Their Exceptional Santa kept a wig—one he liked to observe for ten minutes every morning. To my children, this appeared to be a curious new habit, but not to Santa, who concluded it was truly wonderful. Surprisingly, a wig was the object he chose.

Their Exceptional Santa fancied a custard pie—one he enjoyed placing on his head. To my neighbour, this might be a novel and eccentric act, but not to Santa, who found the idea thrilling. Strangely enough, a custard pie was his pick once more.

Their Exceptional Santa found a hat—one he chose to worship. To me and my husband, this might seem quite extraordinary, but not to Santa, who saw in it something sublime. As unusual as it seems, a hat was the selected treasure.
