Hi, I'm Paul, an aspiring graphic designer and illustrator.

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since my last update, and I wanted to check in with you all. The past few weeks have been a bit challenging. I’ve been unwell and needed some time to rest and recover. But even while taking it easy, I’ve been focused on finishing some school projects, which has kept me occupied.

With my thesis approaching, I know things are about to get even more intense. That’s why I’m taking a short break to breathe, reset, and alleviate some of the stress before diving into the next big challenge.

MY ART REFERENCE

For this week's art contest, I decided to create a fan illustration of Tarsa.

Based on its lore, Tarsa was born with fire in her blood—both in her fiery temper and her ability to summon and control flames. Despite her parents' and teachers' efforts to teach her patience, she wielded her powers to intimidate and manipulate those around her, convinced that "Tarsa always gets what Tarsa wants."

When the Chaos Legion arrived, she viewed it as the perfect opportunity to unleash her destructive potential without restraint. With them clearing the way, she could incinerate everything in her path.

One night, beneath a starry sky, Tarsa confronted a tribe of barbarians angered by her intrusion on their land. Ignoring their attempts at diplomacy, she unleashed a raging firestorm, laughing as they screamed in terror. Confident in her strength, she challenged them all, daring anyone to oppose her.

MY ART PROCESS

For my artwork, I want to showcase a striking character with flowing, voluminous red hair that curls at the ends, evoking a sense of movement. Her outstretched arms and open hands create a welcoming or magical atmosphere, as if she is conjuring or controlling the petal-like fires surrounding her. For the coloring process, some of the colors I've used are based on the reference photo. Her expression is both confident and warm, with golden eyes that capture attention. She dons a white blouse with puffed sleeves and a ruffled collar beneath a blue denim overall dress adorned with gold accents. Floating petal-like fires, in shades of red and orange, surround her, further enhancing the dynamic composition.

MY FINISHED ART

The background shifts from a deep purple to a lighter hue thinking of the nightfall, harmonizing with the warm tones of the character’s hair and radiant skin. Surrounding her are drifting fire-like petals, amplifying the sense of movement and adding a touch of elegance, radiating confidence, strength, and a hint of magic.
