A SIMPLE AND BEAUTIFUL GOWN FOR MY SUPER WOMAN

Hello everyone, happy, creative, and inspired Monday to you all. It's my first time posting in this talented community, I am so excited to share my work with you. I have been following this community for some time now and I have learned a lot of things, especially in the sewing aspect. I love fashion, and I love seeing posts on crocheting bag making, and shoes. I major in making simple garments because I haven't gone for an upgrade. I sew clothes not for commercial purposes at the moment. Have you ever feared damaging someone's clothes? That is so me. Sometimes, I do take on orders if the style is not too complicated.
My mom had a marriage ceremony to attend last weekend. She brought her material for me to sew her a trending bubu gown, a style I hadn't sewn for her to wear before, but she had seen it around. She wanted something that wasn't too short, didn't touch her feet, and wasn't too big. I usually give her the opposite so she made sure to point out what she wanted. Initially, it seemed like it might be too plain for her because she doesn't like wearing simple clothes to occasion but I went on to make the clothes for her.
My mom had to disturb me several times to make her clothes because I felt so relaxed about it, she went on to threaten me that if the clothes were not ready before the occasion I would be in a hot spot😄😄. I started the cutting, here are the few steps and pictures I was able to capture.

I Folded the fabric into 4 without shoulder joining.
For the folding I used the largest part of my mom's measurements (hip) plus an extra 10 inches for the pleat, and the remaining inches for the short sleeve. For the neck measurements, a width of 4 inches and a length of 3.5 inches were used.
I pressed the clothes with iron to leave guidelines on the fabric.

After cutting, I hemmed the bottom of the dress and also the sides and piped the neck using bias tape. It came out so neat, unlike my past trials. If you have one or two tricks on how to use a bias tape please help a sister.

I went on to mark out the pleat by spreading the fabric wide open. Then I marked the half shoulder measurements (8 inches) vertically from one end of the fabric to the other. I marked 4 inches after for the first pleat and sewed both sides down.

For the second pleat, 4 inches was marked also, so I went ahead to shape the clothes. The clothes came out so beautiful.
Initially, my mom felt the dress was too plain and hesitated to wear it to the occasion after some persuasion and sweet talk she agreed. She ended up wearing it for three consecutive days, to the ceremony, to church, and even to work on Monday! It looked so nice on her, and I was glad she liked it in the end. 😄😄😄.
