Tribal Warfare: Olympian Edition. A Gold performance by the Olympians, 10 Wins!
A weekly recap of my Mythic Weekend Ranked experience, this time doing a challenge of using all the different tribes. Prior to this, I’ve done two challenges so far, first a Free-To-Play (F2P) Gauntlet with all the Gods to show that they can all compete and get Legendary packs, and second I did another Gauntlet using only Welcome and Core Cards.
Finally! For the first time since I started this new challenge I was able to 10 wins with the Olympians and get a Legendary Pack! I actually skipped a couple of letters in the alphabetical order of tribes I was going through just to do this tribe first; I had a feeling that some of Aggro Light might get hit with a nerf this coming week.
I initially had a cheaper deck that did well during the week (72% win rate) that I think is a bit better, however it was really just an Aggro Light deck using some neutrals and Olympians but didn’t utilize any tribe synergies so I felt like it didn’t really fit this series. Therefore I took out a couple of neutrals and added some synergy cards like Parthene Guardian and Tartessian Talionis. You can see the cheaper deck here.
Weekend | 24 | 25 | 26 | 27 | 28 | 29 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Tribe | Atlantean | Amazon | Anubian | Aether | Guild | Olympian |
God | Magic | Nature | Death | Magic | Deception | Light |
Wins | 12* | 11* | 6 | 7 | 8 | 10 |
Prize (USD) | $16.5 | $14.5 | $12 | $14.5 | $16.5 | $27.5 |
*Weeks 24 and 25 were out of 25 games; it changed to 18 games starting Weekend 26
Here’s the deck that I used, costing 0.0681 ETH or ~$92.
Nature seems to be making a comeback on the weekends, but Light is still #1. I did pretty even in all the matchups, and the 1 win against Magic and Deception pushed me over the top to get to 10 wins. I think Nature actually could be a problem for Aggro Light, because it has some decent Blitz relics as well as creatures. It actually came down the wire for me to reach the Legendary pack as I was 9-9 when I went against a Control Deception, but even through a misplay I was able to win after a nice Radiant Dawn to wake my guys up from Witherfingers, and then a Prayer of the Desperate on top the turn after that.
Strengths
-Strong Echo cards provide value and flexibility, plus a wide board for buffs
-Buff and debuff roars provide a way to make better trades even without any Blitz
-Snowball potential through a few cards
Weaknesses
-No card draw or card generation
-No Blitz
-Mostly under-stated (though this is because of Light which is known for buffs)
Notable Cards
Blind Martyr may not seem fancy, but with its frontline, it’s bound to give some health to your other creatures. Hitting that health buff is huge for Light, as you want to keep as many creatures on board as possible for your board buffs. Munosian Infiltrator is still great, especially against Nature and other Aggro Light; the ability to bring their health-buffed minions back down to manageable levels is very good. Homeguard Protector with its Echo and Protected is what I think might get hit with a nerf; its stats are not great but with Protected it’s sticky, add some buffs on the next turn and you’re golden. I was actually thinking of not buying Thestor for this deck as it was decently expensive, but I had just enough in my account to get it and I’m glad I did. This one card can win you the game if you can get it to stick a turn; with its own Echo and your other Echo and low cost cards this can grow non-stop.
Notable Cards Not In My Deck
Jason, Medea’s Muse is one of the most expensive cards ($424) and is exceptional value for Control decks. Archpriest of Parthene is one of the win conditions in Light Control decks and can get to monstrous stats with Order support. Lysander, Champion of Light ($29) can work in both Control or Midrange decks and can snowball himself and your board at the same time.
Other Gods
Other than Light which has 28 God-specific Olympians, Was has 30, Death has 3, Deception has 2, and Magic and Nature both have 1. War has some decent Olympians and I was thinking about making this tribe's deck with them instead (a Midrange version), however, there isn’t really much Olympian synergy there, and if I don’t play Light for Olympians I might not have another chance as Light’s main tribes are them or Mystics, but the Mystics aren’t enough to make a good Light deck.
Gonna go back to alphabetical order and do Mystic next! As stated in the previous section, Light’s Mystics don’t have enough going for them to make a better deck than Olympians. So I’ll be playing with Magic again and trying to make an Aggro/Face deck.
I totally forgot to screenshot my last week’s rewards! At least for the next week there’ll be a Legendary haha.
thank you for this post about Gods Unchained. I had started playing it, but then stopped because of the high transaction fees for purchasing cards. Is there still this problem or is it much less after 1 year?

Well the only transaction fees from a year or so ago was the gas fees to transfer into Immutable; that is still there, and there is also a buy/sell fee for cards that has just been added a couple of months ago. However you can get pretty far without buying too many cards if you stick with one God, plus you earn currency from playing on the weekends as well.
Thanks for this update about Gods Unchained
It is much less. Recently, I paid only 0.003 ETH for sending money from Binance -> Metamask -> L2 IMX.
Thanks for this feedback about ethereum fees
Well done, congratulations!
I had a feeling that some of Aggro Light might get hit with a nerf this coming week.
It might but I hope devs won't do it. Better to slightly help zombies and amazons. Meta is quite diverse. Many people play Aggro Light but this is probably because the archetype isn't expensive.
Yea and I feel like it just took a little while before people started building to counter it; I don't think at this point it's necessarily too strong
