F2P Nature Mythic Weekend 6 Ranked Recap (19 Wins)
A weekly recap of my Mythic Weekend Ranked experience with my F2P Nature Deck, see the first 5 week’s journey to 20/25 wins here
This week I was able to attain 19 wins, with a very close match as my 25th game where they lucked out with their Oryx hitting my face before I was able to luck out with my own haha. I fell one short of my wins last weekend when I started using my finalized deck, but overall I’m pretty pleased with the result. In terms of the prize reward, I’ll only be considering expansion packs as they have a defined price.

Prize (USD) | $50 | $34.5 |

As you can see, I played half of my games against War and Nature, which is to be expected in this meta. Luckily, the Deaths I matched up against were not Board Wipe Deaths, which are a horrible matchup for Big Beast decks (or most decks really 😛). I was able to crush the Magic decks that I faced (the only matchup where I use Animal Bond instead of Selena’s Mark), which is a little sad because if you’ve read my first post, you’d know I was trying to build a Magic deck.
The more surprising stat from this weekend was that I lost to both Deception decks that I played. Perhaps I haven’t played long enough but I never really played against good Deception decks. Let’s take a look at them:

You’ll see the first one is a bit lower cost than the other, since it doesn’t have two Pyramid Wardens. They both used Orfeo’s Distraction, which against my Beast deck it’s just a ping since I don’t have Frontlines to bypass, although they also use it to hide their Vault Vagabonds for more turns of card stealing. Strong auto-include Deception cards like Switch Duelist, Armor Lurker, Hunting Trap, and Rapture Dance are there as well. But the card that I hate the most from these decks is The Hollow. If you can’t deal with it the turn it gets dropped, it’ll just become value-town. With Ward and Backline, then infinite Order from itself, this thing is not easy to get rid of especially if they have other creatures on the board due to the RNG of Nature’s spells and hero power. I got out-valued both games, and the first game they even used Cutthroat Insight to steal my Giant Pangolin, then a turn later Double Dealer’ed (generated from the Hollow of course) the remaining cards in my hand. Hopefully I’ll play against more good Deception decks during the week to figure out how to beat them. Let me know if you have any advice!

This will be an interesting week, as we are probably going to get the balance changes some time before the weekend. These changes may affect 3 cards in my deck, namely Sudden Bloom, Finnian Fruitbearer, and Giant Pangolin. All nerfs, of course 😅

For Sudden Bloom, the buff is reduced down to +4/+4. Finnian Fruitbearer loses one health to become a 2/2. Giant Pangolin losses 1 armor. NOTE: These are proposed changes that went into the PTR, thus we don’t know which buffs/nerfs they’ll keep or discard or change. I think Finnian should be 1/3 instead of 2/2; now it’ll just die to just about anything, including lots of 1-mana cards. Sudden Bloom shouldn’t affect play too much, and I only have one copy in my deck. The Giant Pangolin nerf is annoying, as people keep whining about armor, but we shall see. I’ll be playing with this same deck this coming up weekend and I’ll recap how these possible changes affected my gameplay. Fingers crossed I’ll still get above 17 wins!

First pack gave me Takhat, which I only really played against once. It was pretty powerful, so it surprised me that the price on this is so low (~$7.5 USD). Celestial Stag is a decent rare to pull since it's good and in demand (~$4). Second pack gave me the Watchtower of Agrodor, which is the 6th most valuable Divine Order legendary at ~$15. I'll probably sell the Stag and Pangolin and re-invest it in lower cost cards to improve my decks for other Gods.
The two Core legendaries I got were Lokian Disciple and Asterius, Glittering One (my second copy!). If I forged the latter I could sell it for ~$23 after forging fees. Not bad!

I don't think there's a good way to deal with a T1 The Hollow other than trading very efficiently. Pinging with Selena's Mark + Canopy Barrage takes 4 mana and is way too slow. The good thing is that The Hollow generates random cards which may turn out to be useless to your opponent. Most of the time I just hope they don't get great cards and clear it once it's convenient to do so on T5 or so.
Yea, I think it's got too much keywords/stats for a 2-mana. The bad thing is if you leave it warded, it messes with your RNG spells since it can just absorb the damage. Having 2 attack and 4 health also means it trades pretty efficiently against any 1 and 2 drops, IF you can get around all the hidden creatures to actually attack it.
