F2P Mythic Weekend Ranked Gauntlet Recap (Magic, 14 Wins, Weekend 11)
A weekly recap of my Mythic Weekend Ranked experience, attempting to do a Free-To-Play (F2P) Gauntlet with all the Gods to show that they can all compete and get Legendary packs. Previously I’ve done Nature and War; this week is my second with Magic.
This is my second week with Structure Magic as I only got 13 wins the first weekend, and boy was it a rough start hahaha 😅. It was actually the worst Weekend Ranked start of my Gods Unchained career… I was 2 wins and 8 losses at some point! But I broke the streak with a decent streak back up, and I ended the weekend with 14 wins. Just 1 short of my goal! It was a heartache for sure but coming back from a 20% winrate to that isn’t so bad I guess...

Weekend | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
God | Nature | Nature | Nature | War | War | Magic | Magic |
Wins | 20 | 19 | 17 | 13 | 16 | 13 | 14 |
Prize (USD) | $50 | $34.5 | $27.5 | $19 | $27.5 | $19 | $21.5 |
Here’s the deck that I used, costing 0.0135 ETH or ~$40. It was decent timing that they released a buffed City Planner; it’s not always better than Cyclops Defender at the 7-mana slot, but most of the time it is.

Wild weekend as I only played against 1 Death, 1 Light, 0 Magic, a few Deception then all Nature and War! And I’ve been seeing so much Control War lately it’s annoying haha. I did make my deck a little stronger in terms of AOE to deal with Nature, and I did come out 6 out of 11 against them, but dropped my War matchup with 3 out of 7. Contrary to before when I thought Deception would be a bad matchup, I actually think it’s not that bad unless they steal your best cards from your hand. But darn those Control Wars!! And still trying to be more consistent against the most played Nature.

I took out my relic removal and honestly it wasn’t that noticeable. I guess I only played against 1 Death and they’re the big offenders there; with other Gods it’s not that bad to gain favor and use the Sanctum to find the removals. I was very close to my goal, just 1 game off, so I didn’t want to change too much, but that initial losing streak really shook me. What I might do is get rid of the Snowstorm Spire (which leaves me susceptible to the “countdown” of War’s Slayer God Power) and slip in another Ratify, and somehow get an Inferno in there. Going to switch out the Guardian Simulacrum as well to another Labyrinth Guard; the former was quite fun to play with when it works, but sometimes you just need a big frontline to stall more. Doing this may leave me really vulnerable to aggressive War decks, but lately all the War I have been seeing is Control. Plus this gives me better recovery against Nature. Wish me luck!!

Didn't get anything too crazy from these packs, but the first Epic pack is a decent Order Deception Starter. I got the buffed Stormfield which might be worth a little, but it has no place in my Structure deck. Radiant Dawn is useful in Light even after the nerf. I DID however get my first Gold card! An Archangel Bruiser which I used in my Aggro War deck so that's nice.
City Planner feels like it should be pretty valuable with how many stats it's providing, but I'm curious how real play of it feels like since I've only seen it in the wild once. What do you find City Planner weak against/strong against?
A few downsides, the actual body that does damage only has 7 health vs Cyclops Defender so it's a little easier to remove (dies to Hunting Trap as well), and the walls are just free favor at some point. Doesn't jive as well with Shaped Blast. Takes up more space and ups Rapture Dance damage. If the opponent has a bunch of smaller creatures, it takes more time to get rid of them since they're not trading into any damage. Definitely better for stalling though.
