Social Media Challenge - The Immortal Duo

Hello! I have more interesting battles from recent tournaments I'd like to share. Let's take a look at them.

One peculiar match was in the lost magic ruleset which takes away many "shortcut" options and it's extremely transformative, allowing to experiment with cards you otherwise wouldn't see as often.

Both me and my opponent went for very passive approaches and ultimately the game was decided during the fatigue phase by my scavenger units.

The next one was instead a loss for me but it was still exciting because my opponent was a legendary tournament player, ueyuey!

I would have liked it much better to square off against him in a more interesting battle but we got instead a 12 mana match. I went for a very crude strategy with Alric whereas he went for Tofu and was able to edge me out thanks to a good gladiator and some premium low mana cards.

I hope I get the chance to fight him again soon, though!

This was a nice battle where I had to think for a long time on what to choose. In the Wild format anything can happen, especially with a high mana cap and so many splinters available.

The lineup my opponent chose wasn't exactly optimal but it still took a while to overcome his defenses because of Tofu's defensive buffs.

The MVP here was for sure Immortalis, a summoner that I love. The void effect denies damage to the magic attackers making my formation more solid while the other effects allow for slightly more agressive play. At just 6 mana, this summoner doesn't bring any fancy tactics to the table but is still a solid all-rounder that can go toe-to-toe with other legendary summoners in a wide variety of situations.

Mantaroth is a beast in the first position thanks to the void buff and because of the enrage effect him and the sand worm were able to deliver strong attacks.

In this other battle the weak magic effect allowed me to get some incredible mileage out of the venari weaponsmith!

Once again, if the standard rules applied to magic change around there's a strategic shift that happens and allows for much more nuanced play.

My opponent went for a cheeky strategy with Alric, something that I've resorted to myself at different points in the tournament.

I went for Sheng Xiao, an extremely annoying summoner! This was an incredibly satisfying battle to watch unfold and thanks to some optimal RNG from the poison burtst effect my whole strategy turned out to be overkill as the first round of poison already decimated most of the enemy's lineup!

Overall I'm happy with the result of this tournament. I came in 26th and got 96 SPS as a reward.

I spent more than usual on the rentals for the wild cards but the wins I got in the tournament made up for it 👍

I also want to comment on the legendary reward cards.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the prices of these cards in both the short and long term, now that they'll be out of print.

I went out of my way to buy the death ranger, this is an incredibly strong card that for just four mana can soak up a lot of damage thanks to the void armor effect. I definetely didn't want to be without one before it went out of print and right now I'm pretty happy with my collection progression here. I am missing a couple of cards but I don't think they're too important.

Another card I didn't respect as much as I should have in the beginning was the chaos battle mage but thankfully I got that one from the glint shop.

It's a great card. Since it neutral it fits into many battles as an agressive option. It has good damage, great speed and and an amazing effect in the form of piercing! I'm definetely using it more than what I would anticipated in the beginning of my journey.

The one card I really wanted from the beginning was actually the emberguard! I figured it synergized well with Lorkus and its effect was generally quite desirable. I definetely use it in some battles and I now think it's perhaps the second or third most important card from those I showed above. That's another one where I went out of my way to purchase with cash instead of gambling my glint.

Some of the other cards can have their niche uses but are not too exciting on their own.

The one-mana cards can complete your team nicely sometimes but their strenght really depends on the summoner you choose. They do have interesting uses in low mana matches and in wild!

In order to take part in the Social Media Challenge I also made a video on YouTube where I talk about some of my battles. You can find it here!
