A legendary clobbering - Social Media Challenge

Hey! For this week's social media challenge I'll be sharing a fun tournament battle I've recently experienced.

As you can see this was a modern format battle with a 99 mana cap, so it featured a lot of strong cards.

The rules were as follows :

  • Target practice: this rule makes magic and ranged attackers a bit more susceptible to damage and it must not be ignored
  • Weak magic: another rule making magic attackers a little bit less desirable
  • Are you not entertained?! : this was the most gamechanging rule for this battle, allowing us to emply bloodlust units from the Gladius set.

This is what we chose to fight with.

Lorkus is one of my favorite summoners and one of the strongest for the modern format currently, so no surprises there. I love to use him whenever possible. This time around I coupled him with a mix of melee and magic attackers whereas usually I go for the purely magic team.

Because of these incredibly strong cards, Chimney wallstop and Venka, I chose to use the trample effect from the summoner which is the one I usually neglect in favor of the life leech. It did work incredibly well.

My opponent had the Sheng Xiao summoner which is not the strongest but can still cause some problems.

I think if he had more cards he could have been much more competitive here but thankfully he couldn't manage to get some of the strong cards that would have fit well in a max mana battle.

In spite of this disparity I still wanted to share this battle because of the extremely satisfying nature of the match. Watching those trample attacks go off and wreak havoc was amazing. Venka-Lorkus is definetely a strong combo to watch out for at this level, the trample can get out of control very easily.

Of course magic units such as Barashkukor and warborn shaman are also extremely strong, especially if paired with Lorkus, and they did put in a lot of work too here.

The rest of the tournament was otherwise unremarkable for the most part.

It certainly didn't go as well as my last one and I ended up placing 70th.

You can watch a video I made about this recent battle at this link.

Here you can watch another fun battle from the tournament. I chose Tofu to fight against Lorkus and this time around the big cat prevailed.

The magic reflect effect did a lot of work for me here.
Always gotta pay attention to the rules although, understandably, it's not as easy to build a team around the "beefcakes" ruleset.

In other news this is my current progress with the legendary reward cards.

It'd be nice for me to get the warborn chieftain because of its useful dispel effect.
Gallicus and death ranger would have their uses too in some low mana battles and special rulesets however I don't mind being without them for now.

I also spent some glint to purchase some Gladius packs but sadly no luck there with the legendaries. Been a while since I've found one of those.

Of course I'm very much looking forward to the next batch of reward cards which will be sure to shake up the meta and give me more things to spend my glint on!
