Hello, everyone! Leaving work today, I came across this very cloudy sky and felt inspired to make a post here at Love the Clouds.
Too bad there’s no open conquest...🥲

Brasília's climate has something I really like, called "stability." Similar to Northern Brazil in the Amazon region, we have two well-defined seasons: winter (the rainy season) and summer (the dry season, absolutely rain-free). However, here, nobody refers to them that way; instead, we stick with the traditional four seasons. Having spent 8+4 years in Acre (sur)viving - this language trick doesn't work like in portuguese - under this climate system, as it’s called over there, that’s how I perceive and interpret the weather here, where I've been since 2017.

In 2024, there were 164 days without rain, a new record! The previous longest drought was in 1963, with just one less day of dry weather...

For motorcyclists like me, this is awesome, as we leave home confident we won’t encounter rain.

But we’re here to talk about clouds:

Leaving work (I’m an environmental analyst at Brazil’s Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change), I came upon this beautiful sky. 🤩 Clouds everywhere...
In the bottom right corner, you can see my bike, "waiting for me," along with another companion. After 6 PM on a Friday, the parking lot is practically empty.

In the top right corner, you can spot the dome of our cathedral:

While passing through one of the Embassy Sectors, I saw these rain clouds in the direction of my house and got worried: could this be the last rain shower of the season? 😅

When I turned the corner, it seemed the rain was far from where I live, but I wasn’t entirely sure.

I got on my bike and headed home. Thankfully, I made it home dry, with the rain still far away.

O clima de Brasília tem algo que gosto muito, que se chama "estabilidade", assim como no Norte do País, na região amazônica, temos duas estações bem definidas: inverno (a temporada chuvosa) e verão (o período seco, absolutamente sem chuvas), mas aqui ninguém chama assim, seguem as quatro estações tradicionais. Como passei 8+4 anos no Acre (sobre)vivendo neste regime climático, e é assim que se diz por lá, é assim que vejo e leio o clima por aqui, onde estou desde 2017.

Em 2024, foram 164 dias sem chuva, novo recorde! A maior seca anterior tinha sido em 1963 com 1 dia a menos de estiagem...

Pros motoqueiros - como eu - é uma beleza, pois saímos de casa seguros de não pegar chuva.

Mas estamos aqui pra falar de nuvens:

Saindo do trabalho (sou analista ambiental no Ministério do Meio Ambiente e Mudança do Clima do Brasil), me deparei com este céu, que lindo! 🤩 Nuvens para todo lado...
No canto inferior direito, vocês veem a motoca, "me esperando", e outra companheira. Pós 18h de sexta, o estacionamento praticamente vazio.

No canto superior direito é a cúpula da nossa catedral:

Passando por um dos setores de Embaixadas, avistei essas nuvens de chuva, na direção da minha casa, fiquei preocupado: seria esse o último banho de chuva da temporada? 😅

Quando fiz a curva, me pareceu que a chuva estava distante de onde moro, mas não era 100% certeza.

Subi na motoca e segui meu rumo, graças a Deus cheguei seco em casa, a chuva ainda estava bem distante.
