Splinterlands Card Review - Zyrx the Emberglace

Hello there.

Splinterlands' Conclave Arcana Conflicts is ongoing, and I want to talk about the first legendary card that people can get, Zyrx the Emberglace. Zyrx is a 10 cost Dragon monster. It has 2 Magic damage and 5 Melee damage, has 10 HP, and 4-7 armor depending on the level. At the lowest level, it has the Flying and Incendiary ability. Each time it levels up it gets +1 armor and an ability. It first gets Charge, then Execute, and finally Bloodlust.

Early on, it is obvious that this is a card that you want maxed, or at level 2 at the very least. Its stats might be great, but only having Flying and Incendiary is really bad. You are forced to use it in the front if it is only level 1, and it can die quickly there. By getting at least Charge, it can be placed at the back and continue to dish out damage safely.

Zyrx having execute is pretty interesting. I am not familiar on how Execute works on a dual attack type. I'm assuming it finishes its Melee attack first before triggering/checking for the Execute. I also think that if the Magic attack kills during the Execute attack, the Melee attack should target the next monster. If that's how it will be, then it can be pretty devastating.

Finally, the Bloodlust at max level makes it feel OP because of its high stats, damage, and abilities. If it kills on the Magic attack, triggers execute after the Melee attack, kills on the Execute Magic attack, and kills on the Execute Melee attack, it can get 3 Bloodlust stacks in a turn. I wouldn't be surprised if it wipes the enemy team on the next turn. I guess the Incendiary is supposed to balance it out, but at 10 HP, the damage will only tickle it.

For Archons, it works extremely well with either Nidhoggr or Akane. Akane's Ambush with Zyrx is so deadly, and can easily take out a tank without armor. Nidhoggr's Blast makes Zyrx even more overpowered. I remember that Execute can trigger off of Blast, so this combination pretty much ensures that Zyrx can trigger Execute. Together with Bloodlust, I think this combo will be changing the Meta in higher leagues.

I really like this card. I think it is really weak at level 1, but OP at max level. With the possible combo with Nidhoggr's Blast, I think 4 Melee might have been a good balance [2 blast damage instead of 3]. I don't expect to face any level 1 cards of this.

Finally, I would like to give a shoutout to the Lore team on this one. Being both a fire and water dragon helps explain the incendiary [self inflicting damage] to show both elements in violent conflict inside. I was initially confused why Zyrx also had lightning powers, but I guess the turbulent temperatures created by the fire and water was a perfect breeding ground for lightning.

I have read that there were some issues with Zyrx's conflict, how some got lucky with the guaranteed cards and will be getting more cards than they have wagons. Those lucked out for this conflict, and the team will be changing the future ones to require a wagon for every card that a player receives. If they are going to get more cards than they have wagons, they will be prompted to either buy wagon kits for those cards above their wagons, or decline the extra cards.

I've seen some conflicting opinions on this, and how some were saying it is becoming more for the whales. I can see the luck factor disappearing/lessening, but I also understand how the wagons should be 1:1 with cards. The team already decided on it regardless, and I trust in their judgement. I just hope the rest of the upcoming conflict cards are as good as this one so players will still be excited to get them.
