Meta Wedding: I'm All In But How Legal Is It???

The Metaverse is a Digital World or Virtual Reality, which is still in its infancy but it's already taken over the world, recently in one of my posts I talk about Metaverse being the new Event Spot to host a big Events like the hivefest, valentine’s day, super bowl, new york fashion week e.t.c, and Decentraland just hosted the first-ever metaverse wedding in history, the first of its kind was by the Arizona couple, Ryan and Candice Hurley, and was attended by a virtual crowd of 2,000 guests and the Supreme Court Justice officiant Clint Bolick on Saturday.

I know a fellow hiver @deraaa, who would totally love the idea of hosting her wedding or wedding reception on any blockchain-based metaverse, I would love it too but my would be my wedding reception to avoid the legal issue if the marriage is legal and legitimate for this reason:

“There currently is no legal framework for marriage in the metaverse, so whether or not it will be legally binding is more a question of contract.”

But the organizers Decentraland had this to say:

“Unlike the real world, the metaverse isn’t limited by physical constraints that restrict your perfect wedding. Only in the Metaverse can your wildest, most imaginative dream wedding be a reality,” stated the event description on Decentraland. Rose added:

“We see the future of the metaverse as being truly decentralized and existing almost completely on the blockchain, so the future of marriage in the metaverse will not need to have a record of their marriage in the real world.”

Although the bride and groom, Ryan and Candice Hurley were smart enough to hire a law firm in Arizona called the "Rose Law Group" to legally formalize their marriage.

Back to Ryan and Candice Hurley wedding on the metaverse, it's didn't go smoothly as planned, which was expected because it the first-ever metaverse wedding so there was always going to be some little issues, they had some technical issues where Decentraland wasn't able to handle the number of guests and NFT gifts for those who attended the virtual wedding, all the NFT gifts were claimed 20 minutes into the wedding.

Meanwhile, a “Meta-Marriage License” identified, recorded, and tokenized the couple’s virtual identities and place of marriage on the blockchain as a nonfungible token (NFT).

I hope the next meta wedding has a better and smooth event with no technical issues, who is in For a Meta Wedding???? I know I am 😂😂😎.
