When the cat's away | Greed and Betrayal

As soon as mr Michael drove out of the office premises, Tom was filled with excitement as his eyes wander around the safe in his boss office. Tom works as a secretary in Mr Michael's company, he has been working there for more than 4 years, and in this period, he has became an expert in documenting financial files and keeping account of financial reports coming into the company.

Tom is no longer considered a junior staff despite his position as a secretary, his salary was very generous enough to take care of his financial needs, but he wasn't contented with what he was getting, his quest for more money just kept growing in his mind. Mr Michael was a very nice boss, he doesn't expect too much from his workers, he always wants everyone to be comfortable.

Most times, Tom would always think about how he could get rich without working hard, he would always imagine himself being richer than his boss, for some reasons, tom felt mr Michael wasn't being fair to him. Tom had two other colleagues, sarah and precious. Sarah was the managing director and precious was the customer care attendant.

One fateful day, it's rained heavily, it felt like the heavens flood gates were left open and it poured down floods to the surface of the earth. Back in the company, Tom's office was flooded due to the heavy downpour and leakage from his roof. The whole floor was slippery and tom couldn't work in such environment, due to how messy his office was, he left his office to find a better environment, where he do his job for that day, then he pleaded with Sarah to share her office with him, since he had a lot of work to do, Sarah was kind enough to let him in and shared her desk with him. While tom was doing his work at Sarah's office, he remembered he didn't take an important file along with him while leaving his office.

Tom quickly ran out to go get the file in his office, on his way he slipped and fell to the ground, he fell so badly, he couldn't stand on his own, on the other hand, Sarah was a bit worried because tom was taking more than usual time to return back to her office. She decided to go check what was taking his time, to her greatest surprise, tom was laying on the floor in the flood in his office. He couldn't get up on his own as he fell with his head.

Sarah quickly called 911 and tom was rushed to the hospital, mr Michael was informed about the whole situation, he went to the hospital to see what was wrong, he cleared the hospital bills and bought some drugs tom needed.

Two days went by and tom was discharged from the hospital, he sustained a fracture on his right leg. Mr Michael was an understanding boss, he gave tom some days off from work. Tom wasn't happy about the whole situation, he was so devastated, for some reasons, he blamed his boss for his predicament. He felt, if he had gotten a promotion from being a secretary, he wouldn't have gotten into that accident.

All tom could think of was taking revenge on mr Michael his boss. His plans to take revenge was to sign some contract that belongs to the company under his name. Whenever mr Michael and other colleagues were away from work, Tom would sign some cheques under his name. This act went on for 3 months, he was successfully swiping cheques into his personal account.

Mr Michael wasn't aware of theft going on in his company, he only noticed the company finances are really getting low. One fateful day, Mr Michael got in contact with his old time business partner, he was happy to meet mr john his old time school mate and also an old time business partner. After exchanging pleasantries, they both decided to strike a business deal together. On the deal day, mr John came to the office and submitted a cheque worth $10,000 to Tom. Tom in his thirst for revenge, he transferred the transaction into his own personal account, unknown to him, mr Micheal was aware his friend and business partner mr John, submitted a cheque worth $10,000 .

Three days after the transaction was made, mr Michael went to Tom's office to find out why he haven't received the ten thousand dollars Mr John sent to him through a cheque. Tom denied, he acted like he knew nothing about the cheque his boss was talking about. Mr Michael was shocked, he couldn't believe his ears, out of shock he called mr john to come over to his office.

On the arrival of mr John, Tom knew he was in a big trouble. He quickly admitted to swiping the money into his personal account, mr Michael was in a great shock, he couldn't believe what he just heard, he quickly called sarah and precious to his office, he wanted them to witness what was going on, Mr Michael was so pissed, he started yelling at Tom for being so dishonest and stealing from him. He never believed tom could do such a thing to him.

Mr John wasn't happy about the whole situation...

"When the cat is away, the mice would play" mr john said.

Mr John quickly called the police on tom and he was arrested immigration, it was obvious that his greed and selfish behaviour landed him into trouble.
