A gift i will forever cherish

I still remember the day i received the best gift of my life. It was a huge surprise that left me speechless, overwhelmed with emotions, the gift was so thoughtful, i felt loved .

I just an admission into the university, and I've been trying to put myself together. My parents had planned a surprise gift for me, i wasn't even aware of what was going on.

Before i got my admission into the university, i had always complained about my laptop. Then i had a Asus laptop which I use for programming, the laptop was giving me issues, it was so bad that, sometimes it would format by itself. It was so frustrating for me, I'd always cry to my parents, telling them i was tired of using the laptop.

My dad would always say "just manage it for now".

Meanwhile the laptop doesn't want me to manage it, at that time it was overdue to replace it because I've used it for 4 years. My dad would always watch me struggle with the laptop sometimes, he'd always console me. I wasn't happy with him either. I wasn't expecting my dad to get me a new laptop, instead i expected him to help me repair it. After watching me struggle with my laptop he'd walk into his room, sometimes I'd just let out and cry out loud, that was how frustrating it was.

One day i was struggling with my asus laptop, my dad asked which laptop would i love to get in replacement of the bad one. I told him I'd prefer a MacBook or a MacBook Pro, he just let out a big laugh , saying i have a high taste. I my head i just wanted something good for my programming and designing.

I didn't even put it to mind when he asked the kind of system i wanted, i felt he just wanted to know the kind of laptop i liked. The frustration the laptop was giving me became unbearable , i just dumped it and i started borrowing my younger sister's laptop . For some reasons, i just hate borrowing, i just wasn't comfortable borrowing my sister's laptop, sometimes she'd want to use it when i want to borrow it from her, it was very understandable because she was learning graphic designing as at that time and she'd be needing her laptop for practical.

Unknown to me, my parents were making plans to buy a new MacBook for me. One early morning, i woke up with a gift box on my bed, it was wrapped with a gift wrapper, with a ribbon tied across the gift box. I was curious to know what was inside the box, a thought just came to my mind. "What if the gift box isn't for me ?".

I didn't want to open it, nit until my sister came into the room, and asked me to open the gift that it was mine, i wasn't expecting any gift from anyone which even made me more curious. With excitement, i opened the gift box and behold it was a MacBook 2015. I let out a big scream out of excitement, i was overwhelmed because i wasn't expecting any gift talk more of getting a MacBook Pro as gift.

My sister told me it was our parents that brought the MacBook pro for me, i quickly ran to my parents room and gave them a big hug, i felt blessed to have such a thoughtful parents.

Receiving that MacBook pro was the best gift I ever received. It was a reminder that i was loved and cherished by my parents, it was evident that my parents had my interest in their hearts. Although the MacBook became faulty as time went by, i couldn't do away with it, even though I replaced it, i would never trade that MacBook for anything in the world. It's like a priceless treasure I'd forever cherish.
