My Early Hashkings Journey - A Brief History
Early last year I read a post from @spinvest that contained info about a new game coming to the Hive blockchain called Hashkings. My understanding at the time was it would be a farming game with different strains of marijuana as the crop. Thinking I would get in early on a new blockchain game I headed to the web site to buy myself some land/water-tower bundles from the pre-sale. 😃

Acquiring Land
To my surprise (not really 😂) the top three lands were already sold out. Asia, Africa and Jamaica bundles were long gone but there was still plenty of other land budles left. Over the course of the pre-sale I was able to get 7 Afghanistan, 1 Mexico and 3 South America bundles before the launch.
One thing I had learned early on is that subdividing your land would be possible at some point. I really had no idea what the mechanics for this would be and how it would work. A nice surprise awaited me when the game launched in late April. The subdividing had taken place automatically and my 11 total land plots had turned into 76! 42 Afghanistan, 7 Mexico, 27 South America. Bring on the seeds! 😃
The Growing Cycle
Before I continue, here is a quick look at the growing economy and a simple explanantion of how it works. MOTA is a token you stake in game to receive a weekly allotment of seeds. MOTA can be acquired buy burning BUDS tokens that you have harvested from the seeds you planted on your land plots. And of course those planted seeds need to be watered using HKWATER tokens that come from water towers.
You can also buy any of these tokens through Hive Engine and land plots/water-towers can be purchased on NFTmart or rented in game. Not very in depth but a quick look at how the growing economy works.
My First Growing Cycle
So what came first, MOTA or the seed/BUDS? To be honest I can't really remember but I believe there was an initial seed airdrop to get us all started. I began planting seeds on the lands I had, watered them, Harvested the BUDS and burned the BUDS for MOTA.
At first there were universal seed drops that I think were based on the amount of MOTA I had staked on Hive Engine. These drops would come when the number of total planted plots would drop below a certain value. Therefore the timing of drops was inconsistent and you might also receive seeds for land plots you didn't own.
Growing Today
I like the current method of staking MOTA in game to the region that you would like to receive seeds for. Currently I have all my MOTA staked to Afghanistan and keep those 42 land plots full each day. I hope as I gain some more MOTA to expand my seed acquisitions to start using my Mexico and South America plots more. Since HKWATER is cheap on Hive Engine right now I am able to water all my seeds pretty inexpensively. We will see how long that lasts. 😃
So there is a quick look at how I got started. The farming aspect is just one game in the Hashkings universe with more planned. Raids is another game currently going utilizing avatars and is starting to gain some popularity. Hopefully I can talk a little more about that next time.
I have also started trying to save up some BUDS for the day they reach $.50. What is $.50 times one million again? 🤣

I really got in late and I farm my 3 mexico and 5 Southamericas. I got myself some water and I also stake mota. Well @solymi does he is my master. I wish I would have been into hive gaming back then I would have certainly gotten myself some bundles. Now land is pretty expensive.
!PIZZA
Yeah this is one that I haven't ever really gotten into. I was looking at it at the same time I got into DCity and just stuck to that. Now feeling the Splinterlands addiction. Next to look into is Rising Star
Welcome to Hashkings! Like most things crypto it is always better to be early but I think there is still opportunity to succeed in Hashkings. Hopefully with the new games and features being added there will be some growth and a chance for everyone to get ahead. Just make sure you do the math before making any moves. 😀

I bought a single plot of the cheapest plot of land. I saw all the issues on the launch date and things didn't really appeal to me as much. So I kind of stopped playing because I saw a problem with the seed distribution. Maybe I should go back and check things out again over the weekend.

It was definitely a rocky start and the game is still technically in Alpha so some issues do pop up now and then. There is constant innovation, streamlining of the current processes and new games/features being added to the Hashkings universe so I guess a few hiccups are to be expected. The dev team is responsive and does seem to make things right as best they can when there is a problem though.
For me it's a mostly passive game that I enjoy and there seems to be some growth happening. Plus I am starting to accumulate a nice stack of BUDS and also take out a little Hive now and again. 😀
Nice read. Well done man. I think intially seed drops were daily. Then the formula was introduced for seeds happening when occupied plots are less than 5000. Like you I prefer the latest mota stake/ seed drop format.
