Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Overcoming a Disadvantage
Hello everyone! This is my first entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today, I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.
I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. The game had the Silenced Summoners rule set. I usually pick a Dragon summoner in this rule set because it gives me access to Dragon units and units from whichever splinter I pick. However, this game doesn't allow Dragons. The 3 mana common summoners from Rebellion are also great picks for these games. They provide 2 splinters and only cost 3 mana. They already don't have any abilities or stat modifiers, so they become much better. The problem is that I don't have those, except for a few BCX of each, making them not an option when my other summoners are maxed out. My opponent didn't have that issue, so I was at a disadvantage.

This game had the following rule sets: Fog of War and Silenced Summoners. The mana cap was just 15, with only Water and Dragon inactive. I went with Ilthain since I wanted to play Life. I put Pelacor Conjurer in front, followed by Dax Paragon. Vulguine and Venari Crystalsmith were my next ones. I finished the team with Frigid Wold and Soul Fiend. They opted for Chuul Jujinchi and put Halfling Refugee as their tank. Meriput Magician was next, followed by the 2 Fiends. They finished with Elanor Bravefoot and Acid Shooter. One very important thing to note is that their Acid Shooter is not at max level, where it gets Poison. However, I don't think it is because of the Acid Shooter itself, but because the summoner is at level 9 instead of 10.

Round 1
Only Meriput Magician was able to hit my Conjurer. Acid Shooter hit my Vulguine. I also stuck the Affliction on their Refugee.

Round 2
Acid Shooter took out my Fiend, and I eliminated the Refugee. I also put Meriput Magician down to 1 HP with Affliction.

Rounds 3
Meriput died to the Magic Reflect, and Elanor missed an attack that would have killed my Conjurer. I got rid of both Fiends, leaving them with just 2 ranged units.

Rounds 4 and 5
I quickly killed Elanor, and they never got to attack again. The game ended in round 5.
My team quickly finished the game.

The lack of Poison on Acid Shooter, due to their summoner's level, was pretty important for their chances. Considering how the game developed, I don't think it would have made a difference, but it certainly lowered their odds of winning. Regardless, it was a game with a lot of RNG, but my Conjurer was amazing. I think their team would be better with Conjurer instead of the Halfling and Venari Crystalsmith instead of Meriput Magician. If they had done that, it would have been much more difficult for me. And if they could have used a max level Acid Shooter with that improved lineup, I would have been a heavy underdog.

What do you all think about this game? Would you have done anything different? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!!
