Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Don't Bring Cryptic to a Tofu Fight!
Hello everyone! This is my first entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.
I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. This was another game against Clayboyn. I've had many battles against him, getting losses and wins (I don't remember any draws). Eternal Tofu is a very powerful summoner but Cryptic is usually a good way to fight it. However, will it be good enough in the Up Close & Personal rule set, where players are forced to use melee units? Let's see how it went!

This game has the following rule sets: Holy Protection, Up Close & Personal, and Tis but Scratches. I picked Eternal Tofu and placed Arkemis the Bear in front, followed by Junker. I used Olivia of the Brook and Venka the Vile next and finished the team with Halaran Huntress and Stitch Leech. Clayboyn opted for Cryptic with Grimbardun Fighter in the first slot and Tide Biter in the Reach position. He placed Uraeus and Disintegrator next and finalized the team with Captain Fellblade and Kulu Mastermind.
I gave Scavenger and Triage to Olivia. Clayboyn gave Expose and Poison to his last 2 units. In round 1, he quickly eliminated my Stitch Leech with his back units. Olivia gained Retaliate. In round 2, his Kulu missed my Halaran Huntress and Venka was able to kill his tank and remove the Divine Shield from Tide Biter. His Uraeus didn't miss and finished my Huntress. Olivia avenged her friend by taking out Uraeus. Olivia gained Strengthen. In round 3, I killed the Tide Biter but he eliminated Venka. Olivia gained Trample. In the following round, Olivia took out Captain Fellblade and Disintegrator died to Thorns. Olivia gained Enrage. In round 5, Kulu killed my Bear in one hit because Expose had removed Forcefield. However, that wasn't enough, and the combination of Thorns plus some damage from my attacks took out his Kulu in round 6. Olivia even gained Poison which she applied to Kulu, but it wasn't needed.
Even if Cryptic is usually a good option against Tofu, when you can only play melee units it's not as effective. Clayboyn was smart and used some units that were either immune or resistant to Thorns (Reflection Shield and Shield), but it wasn't enough. Olivia, Venka, and Arkemis did a nice job and with the help of Thorns they won me the game!
What do you all think about this game? Would you have done anything different? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!!
