Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Blasting with Lorkus
Hello everyone! This is my second entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today, I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.
I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. In this game, I used Lorkus in the Explosive Weaponry rule set. In this rule set, all units get Blast. Usually, Conqueror Jacek is an excellent option. The 2 extra speed make it difficult for the opponent to be faster, and the Scattershot makes it more likely that some of the Blast hits will take out the more fragile units, and it makes Deflect less effective. However, since this game also has Reverse Speed, Jacek is not a good option. I decided on Lorkus instead and tried to make use of some slowish magic units. My opponent used Possibilus the Wise, which is also a better option than Kelya in Reverse Speed. There's not much in particular that makes both Lorkus and Possibilus better with than without Blast, however, there can be slight upsides to both. For Lorkus, the extra attack stats can also increase the Blast damage. For Possibilus, the possible extra Trample attacks also deal Blast damage.

This game had the following rule sets: Reverse Speed, Lost Legendaries, and Explosive Weaponry. The mana cap was 4, with only Water and Fire available. I picked Lorkus with Drybone Megalodon in front. Sadly, this is the only Rebellion rare reward card that I still need to max out. I placed Forgotten One next, followed by the Weapons Training combination of Grimbardun Smith and Moxian Rebel. My last 2 units were Chaos Adjutant and Magi of Chaos. They opted for Possibilus with Arkemis the Bear in the first position. They put Grimbardun Fighter next, with the Deflect. Angelic Mandarin and Merdhampir followed them. For the last 2, they went with Water Caller with the Deflect and Wave Brood with Taunt. This meant they were protected from Blast damage until the first or the last units were eliminated, unless there were Scattershot units. I did have one. I gave Life Leech and Affliction to Grimbardun Smith and Chaos Adjutant.

Round 1
They Stunned my tank and dealt a lot of damage to it, leaving it at 3 HP. The Forgotten One's attack was almost useless against Forcefield, and their Silence plus Void plan on Wave Brood made me deal low there. I was able to stick the Affliction on Wave Brood, which was very important.

Round 2
They quickly killed my Megalodon, but my Forgotten One Retaliated when the Grimbardun Fighter attacked, which was very nice damage. However, the rest of their team eliminated the Forgotten One. Chaos Adjutant failed to land Poison again.

Round 3
The Blast damage took out my Rebel. At least, Arkemis missed its attack, thanks to the 5 speed difference.

Round 4
I put Arkmis to 2 HP and Wave Brood to 1. My Chaos Adjutant was at 3 HP, and Arkemis missed again. If it had hit one of the 2 attacks, the Adjutant would be dead.

Round 5
Grimbardun Smith finally finished Arkemis, and Magi of Chaos did the same to Wave Brood. However, their Blast damage also eliminated the Adjutant.

Round 6
My two units were able to take out their Figther. This also put the Angelic Mandarin in front, leaving them with just 2 attackers.
Rounds 7, 8, and 9
I killed the Angelic, and they could only attack with Water Caller, which could only deal 1 damage per round to Grimbardun, which was gaining 2 HP with Life Leech. This meant the game was over, even if they killed my Magi. It took two more rounds to clean up their team.

For the first several rounds, the game didn't look good for me. However, with a bit of luck from the misses combined with the incredible sustain of Grimbardun Smith, I was able to slowly gain an advantage and win the game.

What do you all think about this game? Would you have done anything different? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!!

While reviewing this fight your opponent must be wondering how did I manage to lose this fight :)
Yes, I needed those misses. Maybe not all of them but even that I'm not sure.
