Splinterlands x Inleo and sustainable blog challenges!
Hey everyone, another Splinterlands related post but not a regular challenge post!
I'm making my posts with PeakD for a long time already, it's the best and once you're used to it you really don't need anything else so that's probably why most splinterlands players with me use Peakd as their writing platform (I use ecency for engaging with other members because it gives you points you can use to promote your posts for free with, just a small tip!)
BUT! There's a new kid in town, well to be fair it's not new, the Inleo team is working hard to get more people in to Hive and the first collaboration they made by integrating the Dash ecosystem and the DASH token to the INLEO and LeoDex platform, making it able for new users to earn DASH with their posts, this is awesome work because the whole world should know about how great Hive is.
For existing Hive members this wasn't really a thing because nothing changed.
The second collaboration they did was together with Splinterlands to be able to earn SPS tokens with your posts and I think some LEO in the process as well, that's enough to at least test out the platform!
When I go to my Inleo Dashboard I can see the SPS that's available to cashout, which is basically just a simple swap button on your dashboard that will convert all liquid Hive you have sitting in your account to SPS.
I wonder how it gets to liquid though because we get our posts paid out in HBD, which is liquid and the other part in staked Hive, or Hive Power.
So, for people experienced with crypto this collaboration isn't a big thing because we can already use the other dex's to swap or trade Hive to SPS on.
The possibility to earn LEO on top of the normal earnings IS a very nice feature though and this would be the main reason for me to switch from Peakd to Inleo, however the way the interface works is entirely different than how PeakD works, for example I'm used to use markdown code like < br > to make room in between columns of text and < center > to align images in the center of the screen which doesn't work in Inleo.
Hopefully in the future this will get better and the text editor will improve, as of now a good working interface is more important to me than earning extra tokens and having to deal with a less advanced text editor.
But of course, this is from someone that's been using another platform for over three years, I guess this is a completely different story for new players in Splinterlands who are just starting their blogging careers.
Sustainable Splinterlands Challenges
And there's another great update, not from Inleo but from the Splinterlands team to make the challenges more sustainable and prevents leeching;
*New Rule: Community Commitment & Reward Eligibility
To ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the Hive ecosystem, we will evaluate the long-term commitment of participants when selecting winners. Specifically, we will review past rewards earned and currently held Hive Power (HP) as part of the selection process.Participants who demonstrate an investor mindset by holding and growing their HP are more likely to be rewarded. Those who consistently extract all rewards without reinvesting into the ecosystem may not be eligible for prizes. This rule aims to celebrate and encourage commitment to the Hive blockchain, fostering a strong and engaged community.
So this targets users who extract all earnings instead of using is to grow their Hive account which is a good thing in my opinion, I myself used to be an extractor as well, I was powering down 100% and investing everything I earned in to my Splinterlands account, I didn't have bad intentions I just was a Splinterlands player only and didn't know or think about Hive, but the sustainability of the entire Hive / Splinterlands ecosystem is far more important, so I changed this with some advice of elder Hive members and started making non splinterlands content sometimes as well, and saving my Hive Power, and boy it's a joy to see that growing and providing some passive income!
What to do with the blogging earnings?
What do you do with the blogging earnings?
As a Splinterlands player, it's a two sided coin, wanting to grow my Hive account but also wanting to buy more cards with the earnings iI receive from my blogs.
As of now, I'm just saving all staked Hive Power and use it to have a little passive income by delegating this to Inleo (more on that later).
The other half, which we receive in liquid HBD (Hive Backed Dollars) I usually convert to liquid Hive, either in the Ecency Wallet interface or in the Hive Keychain tab. (Tip: when you click on your HBD there's a new tab with 'convert' on it, this takes three days to mint in to Hive and it will take the median price from that three day period - only recommended when Hive is below $1 but where not there yet 😁)
This way, it's a perfect split between investing in to my Hive account, and investing in to my Splinterlands account. At some point when I'm somewhat finished working on my Splinterlands account I'm planning to just use the HBD to mint Hive with and power up my account with Hive Power.
Curate or Delegate your Hive Power?
For now, I'm delegating most of my Hive Power to Inleo to get a nice passive income, how? In the InLeo Dashboard, when you scroll down a bit, you can delegate (some of your HP) to Inleo and get LEO as a daily reward.
I'm holding 200HP as a minimum to myself for my account to let the RC recharge for any actions I need to do on my account like moving cards around. When my amount grows, I can divide this and use it to start upvoting other members myself because now my vote is just worth dust.
When LEO is spiking I can hopefully sell this and invest it back to Hive. 😀
Networking!
More important than upvoting someone is leaving comments, it's the human factor!
I think it's great and interesting to read other peoples posts about their lives, for some this really differs from my own personal life, it's interesting and you can learn a thing or two from it.
With this, we can make new friends and you might even get some new followers this way!
Conclusion
So, let's see where the Inleo journey brings us, for now I think I will stick to Peakd for my Splinterlands posts but maybe for the other posts I could use Inleo sometimes, let's see if I can earn some LEO with this one! 😁
Let me know if you think I can do better with certain things on Hive or have any other tips, I'm here to learn, and I'm learning mainly from listening to podcasts and from elder community members, so I can pass the knowledge to my friends and new guild members I will get in our two guilds.
Thanks for stopping by!
I've tried to use this front-end several times, but I always get a silly error that doesn't allow me to publish, or a markdown error. And everything seems confusing with Threads. So I always go back to PeakD. I hope this improves in the future, it looks like a great project.
Yes I agree, with some improvements this could be great, for now I love peakd more as well
