As of writing, the new reward system for Splinterlands battles is now live.

What does this mean? What will be its impact to the game? and what are the pros and cons of this new reward system? Let's discuss these shortly.

What is the new reward system?

The new reward system only gives DEC rewards to leagues Bronze II and above. This means, Bronze III and below players won't receive anything from doing battles from now on.

What will be its impact?

This will mostly affect those who just started and are still trying to grind their way to earn DEC for rents. In the new system, new players will have to add a little bit more of investment so they can rent cards that'll help them rank up to Bronze II and up.

What are the pros and cons of this update?

Let's start with the positive impact of the update.

This will help minimize players creating multiple accounts rather than focusing on increasing their ratings. Another is this can be a step to control players using bots. One more would be, an increase in the demand of card rentals. This means, card owners will now a little bit increase in earnings in renting out their cards. Lastly, this could help increase to DEC value since people will need it to for rentals. More demands means increase in value.

Now, let's proceed to the disadvantages.

Main disadvantage is the additional investment needed for newbies. Currently, cost of card rentals also increased due to high demand thus making it a little bit more expensive for newbies to start earning.
