I'm supporting the Splinterlands funding proposal. I think it's important.
Over the past couple of weeks there has been a lot written and talked about the splinterlands teams request for funds from the Hive DHF.
While there have been a lot of arguments over and back about the use of funds, past management of funds and the viability of the game, there are a few important points to consider.
We are currently paying out over 14k daily from the fund for proposals.
Splinterlands are asking for 2.77K for the next 172 days = 476K
Projects like Hivewatchers are currently getting 290 for the next 770 days = 223K
Splinterlands is looking for just twice as much as hivewatchers over the full course of their proposal. One have managed to become the number one dapp in the entire crypto industry, scale to hundreds of thousands of active users, create it's own governance token, dao, celebrity partnerships, national tv and become one of the fastest growing businesses in the usa at it's peak.
The other one scares off new users for pennies, spams posts and hurts our whole community.
One of them is being supported by multiple witnesses and some of our largest stake holders. The other one is Splinterlands.......
With that said, most of the proposals currently funded seem to be good for the long term health of hive and go towards developing the underlying technology and future proofing the chain apart from Hivewatchers.
The splinterlands post.
I think that this is where a lot of the original problems stem from. The request for funds is one thing but how it was worded didn't help yabamatt or the splinterlands team.
It came across threatening and vague. This was later clarified in an updated post about splinterlands not leaving hive regardless of funding or not but even for myself the first post didn't read well and made me hesitate to vote for them.
Splinterlands Has No Plans to Leave Hive
First and foremost, we want to be completely clear that we have absolutely no plans to move off of the Hive blockchain either now or in the future, regardless of whether or not our proposal gets funded.
What was stated in the proposal is that it is possible that we could be forced to do so in the future, even if the team prefers not to. Our responsibility is to the company shareholders and to the players, so if we are unable to grow and be successful on the Hive blockchain, and a good opportunity presents itself on another platform, we may be obligated to take it.
If the Hive community chooses to support the project, however, then it gives us a much higher chance of being able to turn things around and once again be extremely successful here on Hive, which greatly lowers the chances that we will ever need to even entertain a discussion with other blockchain platforms in the future.

So why vote yes to fund the team??
I was going to write my own explanation but one of the top comments from @gank on the post says it very well.
"I found Steem/Hive in September 2017 and fell in love with the potential of this blockchain for businesses and games to build on. A love I still have, and to this day 98% of my crypto experiences involve HIVE.
When SteemMonsters/Splinterlands came along, I fell in love with the concept and the nostalgic MTG feel it had to me.
As the game started gaining traction, I thought the flood gates would open with other businesses and games coming to HIVE to build. Some did, but I still couldn't believe that there wasn't more.
Splinterlands continued to grow, and then caught a comet, and found itself bigger, shining brighter and at a speed that no one thought possible.
Almost overnight, a couple of tech savvy gamers with a cool gaming idea, @aggroed and @yabapmatt , went from running a small 5 person team working on a passion project to running a serious business with over a 100 person team.
The reality is that would be a tough situation for a seasoned CEO, with a business background, who has experience running medium to large companies to be able to manage all of the internal and external relationships, as well as maintaining a long-term vision in a successful way.
Of course there were going to be some big mistakes made. I am confident that @yabapmatt has learned a lot from that roller coaster and has been hard at work at bringing the game and the long-term vision in-line with a sustainable and successful approach.
There is no doubt that Splinterlands is one of the best ongoing advertisements for what the HIVE blockchain is capable of handling, in terms of users and actions, to other potential businesses and gaming companies looking to build.
Splinterlands has also onboarded tens of thousands of players and hundreds of thousands of accounts onto the blockchain over the years, and have even created a process for a new player to not have to even know anything about HIVE or blockchains to start playing, which is important for lowering the barrier of entry into the game (and blockchain) and improving the New Player Experience.
I do agree with what some people have said that Splinterlands players should also understand the importance of being a part of the HIVE ecosystem and powering up HIVE to help secure and support the chain. It is to this point why I have written this.
I think it would go a long way with garnering more support and traction for this proposal, and also show a planned, good-faith effort from Splinterlands, if @yabapmatt would earmark 5% to 10% of this proposals funds to be used for efforts to educate players and facilitate transitioning players' views to understanding the importance of also being a part of the decentralized HIVE community and ecosystem.
Thanks for your time and consideration,
Gank."*
I couldn't have written it any better myself.
It's so rare for any project to last 6 years in crypto. Over 95% have failed to date and even rarer to have something this big and unique on a chain as small as hive.
The team has shown that they can do this already instead of funding a project on vague promises of future deliveries and no product.
We are all part of the same community and if splinterlands is successful then we will all be successful.
The team has made mistakes in the past by going too fast and spreading too thin but they have learned lessons and survived to this point.
If we don't fund the top project created here over the past seven years then why would any other project build here if they can't get any support or funds to be successful??
I know that some of the top stakeholders don't like certain personalities associated with the game and don't see the value in the game itself but that is shortsighted and hurts us all.
Sure we could vote yes to funds and the game still dies off but it's worse not to give them a chance to get back on track. They stuck with hive when others wanted splinterlands to move so we should stick with the team now when they are struggling.
If you haven't voted yet you can do so on the proposal page here,
https://peakd.com/me/proposals
Or if you are currently voting the return proposal you can unvote on the same page to close the gap to funding also.
Everybody needs to vote with their own mind but i personally think that we should support a team that has brought huge success to the chain in the past and is our best bet of more success in the future. I really worry for hive if the game fails or moves as we have nothing else here that generates revenue to that extent or can attract that many users in a short period.

You’ve got fantastic points and reason
I support the proposal too but I sometimes think about the 2777 daily HBD
Don’t you feel it is too much?
I also same here support the proposal because I believe it will definitely go a long way in helping the platform hive
I am still not sure. Splinterlands did a lot to put Hive on the map during the NFT craze and for that, we should be grateful. My son is big into Pokemon at the moment and I can see that these crazies come and go in cycles. I have taught him to be careful of them now as we don't know how valuable they could be when he is older and the next cycle comes around. So, I get it.
My main concern is that there are shareholders who invested and made a lot of profit in the popular days of Splinterlands and now that things are not going so well they need more investment but I don't see a mention of a place at the shareholder table for the DHF. Surely as an investor of 500000 this should be discussed.
Unfortunately, looks like the trend is the other way around... The RP gets more votes and the Splinterlands one started to lose some.
Looks like the ones who don't want this proposal passed are pretty determined. I wonder if they thought things through, but we'll see how things progress.
