Last-Minute Pivot: Shifting My Splinterlands Land Strategy Before Phase 1.75

For quite some time, I had been allocating a significant portion of my natural plots toward Research and SPS production. It had been a solid approach, providing me with a steady stream of benefits. However, with Phase 1.75 introducing new resource production mechanics, it became evident that Research and SPS output would soon require a substantial amount of new resources—resources that would be in very limited supply at the start.
This realization led me to rethink my current setup. With time ticking down before the update went live, I made the decision to shift all my natural plots to Grain production. My reasoning was simple:
Grain would automatically convert into the new resources once the update launched. By producing Grain now, I ensured I’d have an initial stockpile of essential materials when the new mechanics came into play.
Avoiding an early bottleneck—If I kept my land focused on Research and SPS without the necessary materials in place, I risked not being able to generate anything efficiently post-update. The shift to Grain gave me a buffer to adjust accordingly.
A smooth transition into the new economy—Rather than scrambling to acquire the new resources from the market at potentially inflated prices, I wanted to position myself to be self-sufficient as much as possible.
Making the Shift in Time
One of the key factors that worked in my favor was that land production shifts only take 24 hours. This gave me just enough time to transition my plots before the update went live. Had the switch taken longer, I may have been stuck in an inefficient setup during the critical early days of Phase 1.75.
Now that my land is fully transitioned, the big question remains: Will my production be enough to sustain my overall land operations? That’s something I’ll have to monitor closely over the next few weeks. I suspect that resource management will become one of the most important aspects of the new land economy, and players who can strike the right balance will have a huge advantage.
Excited for What’s Next
Despite the last-minute shift, I’m incredibly excited about the economic ramifications that Phase 1.75 will bring to Splinterlands Land. We are now entering a phase where resource scarcity, production efficiency, and strategic land management will play a much bigger role in gameplay. The update introduces a layer of depth that we haven’t seen before, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.
For now, I feel good about the decision to pivot toward Grain ahead of the update. Whether it was the right move or not will become clear soon, but that’s part of what makes this phase so intriguing. Land is finally starting to feel like the economic powerhouse it was meant to be, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.
