[ENG/ESP] Larvie (Holozing) Art
Today I want to share my latest Holozing fan art, where I returned to using mixed media. I made a drawing of Larvie, colored it with markers, then cut it out and used natural elements and a photograph to add the final touches to the composition. I had previously used this technique with Cinella, another of my favorite characters, and I really liked it too. What I especially loved about this one was the contrast between the different textures of nature and the animated character as the center of the composition.
Hoy les quiero presentar mi último fan art de Holozing, donde volví a usar técnica mixta porque hice un dibujo de Larvie el cual coloreé con marcadores y después recorté, y utilicé elementos naturales y una fotografía para dar los toques finales de la composición. Anteriormente había utilizado esta técnica con Cinella, otro de mis personajes favoritos, y me gustó mucho también. De este me gustó en especial el contraste de las distintas texturas de la naturaleza y el personaje animado como centro de la composición.
As you can see, I started using a piece of recycled paper and, little by little, guided by the original art but adding my own style, I created the sketch of our character. I tried to work as cleanly and clearly as possible.
Como pueden ver, comencé utilizando un fragmento de papel reciclado y, poco a poco, guiándome por el arte original pero poniendo de mi estilo, fui creando el boceto de nuestro personaje. Traté de trabajar lo más claro posible.
Next, I took a pen to define the lines of my drawing. I made solid, thick strokes to mark the areas that would be colored. Our character is mostly green, except for small pale pink details. I’ll be using alcohol-based markers for all the coloring in my drawing.
Lo siguiente que hice fue tomar un bolígrafo para determinar bien las líneas de mi dibujo. Hice líneas sólidas y gruesas que delimitarían las zonas a colorear. Nuestro personaje en su mayoría es de color verde, a excepción de pequeños detalles de color rosa pálido. Estaré utilizando marcadores de base alcohol para todo el coloreado de mi dibujo.
After a while, I had my character fully colored. And although right now, due to the lighting on my desk, the imperfections are very noticeable, this will change considerably in a well-lit environment like the outdoor photo we’ll be taking. But before the photo, we need to cut out our character.
Después de un rato tuve todo mi personaje con sus colores, y aunque ahora por la iluminación de mi mesa se ven demasiado las imperfecciones, esto cambiará considerablemente en un ambiente iluminado como la fotografía que tomaremos en exterior. Pero antes de la fotografía necesitamos recortar nuestro personaje.
With the drawing finished and cut out, it was time for the photo. Since the character is inspired by a caterpillar, of course it had to be placed in a natural setting. After trying several shots, I decided to position it among the branches of a tree—and that’s the result I’m sharing with you today.
Con el dibujo listo y recortado, vino el turno de la fotografía. Por supuesto, como el personaje está inspirado en una oruga, esa oruga estaría en un lugar natural. Me decanté, después de varias fotos, por colocarla entre las ramas de un árbol, y es el resultado que les comparto hoy.
