Play-to-Earn Summer of Hive

Today is the first day of June. And Hive's play-to-earn summer has begun. Although the Hive price seems weak, the development in the Hive ecosystem continues without slowing down. Near-zero transaction fees, token exchange, and advanced security features make Hive an ideal game network. In this article, I will talk about the status of the games I have played, invested in, or followed the developments about. With the games activated in the Splinterlands ecosystem, the number of quality games will increase in Hive this summer. Although no calendar has been announced, much progress has been made on the Ragnarok and PsyberX fronts.

Splinterlands

Splinterlands, a Hive classic, is now celebrating its fifth anniversary. Splinterlands, the scene of battles of fantastic monsters, is played by over a hundred thousand players and is known for its innovations in card games. Two more games set in the Splinterlands universe could come into play this summer.

SoulKeep

Soulkeep Alpha, a tower defense game set in the Splinterlands fantasy universe, is in the testing phase. In addition to tower NFTs, Splinterlands cards will also be used in the game. Developments on the game continue following user feedback. After watching youtube videos, I can't wait to play the game. The launch date of the game may become apparent in June.

Proetoria

The main features of Pretoria, the land game of Splinterlands, will be activated in the summer. Thus, the metaverse feature of Splinterlands will be reinforced. Owners of the game's land NFTs now know where their plot is on the map. In addition, the characteristics of the lands were also determined. Landowners can produce cards and SPS in their buildings with the version that will be activated in the summer months.

Terracore

In March, the Terracore game suddenly appeared and received a great deal of attention from members of the Hive community. According to Dappradar data, Terracore is the 45th most-played web3 game, with over a thousand players today. And a group of players, including myself, play the game with pleasure.

Serfdom & Sorcery

Towards the end of March, Serfdom & Sorcery was launched on Discord. The game was met with an interest that surprised me, and in a short time, more than a thousand people started playing it. I started playing the game when I got five farms as airdrop due to the plots I own in the PsyberX game. And I understand why people play this game with such enthusiasm. The game played with simple commands written on Discord, is constantly being developed. In the first few weeks, the bot responding to commands was frequently disabled. This issue has now been resolved. This situation led to an increase in the price of the game's token, DBLN. Castle sales are currently on the agenda at Serfdom & Sorcery. Should I buy a castle? I'm considering the issue.

Ragnarok

A unique mix of poker and chess, Ragnarok is a mythology-based game. Ragnarok's tokens were airdropped to Hive power holders at the end of 2021. The game's development continued throughout 2022, and the alpha version of the game began to be tested this year. The announcement made on the @ragnarok.game account last week showed that the development was approaching the target. Below we see the chessboard of the game.

Rising Star

There is no source where we can follow the number of users of Hive games. Dappradar mirrors Splinterlands and Terracore's stats. We can't see statistics for other popular Hive games on this website. Still, we have statistics to predict the popularity of the games. For example, it is an essential indicator of how many people read the announcements from the game's Hive account on the Peakd interface. Over 250 people have read the latest announcement of the music career game Rising Star. The high traffic of the game's website also shows us that a large user base plays Rising Star.

PsyberX

PsyberX, the kill-to-earn game set in a cyberpunk environment, is still in alpha testing. The game has impressive graphics, and although not all of its functionality has been implemented, award-winning PsyberX tournaments have started to be held on Hive. When the game is completed, it will fill an essential gap in the web3 games universe.

Over time, the quality of the games increased, and their numbers increased. Splinterlands reached the tipping point in 2021 and doubled the Hive's value. Nowadays, many games are candidates to repeat this success.

Due to the popularity of DEFI applications on the Ethereum network, the summer of 2020 was named DEFI summer. It is difficult to predict whether the summer of 2023 will be referred to as the Hive play-to-earn summer. As the variety of games develops, Hive becomes more appealing to all tastes, and games and social media applications create synergy.
