RE: INLEO's Proposal to Grow the Hive Ecosystem | We Successfully Onboarded 10k+ Monthly Active Users

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

We launched our own image infrastructure in the middle of 2024 and since then, over 130,000 images have been uploaded to it and stored on the Hive blockchain.

Maybe i missed the talk about this back in the day so please help me remember. Are the images really broken down somehow and written into the blocks on the blockchain?

That's probably not how it's done, but that's actually not a bad idea.
We could build a tool for that but not sure if there would be much interest in it.

PS. could be used for NFT images instead of relying on IPFS... 💡

I briefly looked into it, and it seems like a bad idea.

A 10 MB image would be stored in 620 blocks, making it too slow, expensive to scale, and heavy for the chain.

thought so too, max hive block size is 2MB … meaning images themselves are not decentralized!

(Edited)

images themselves are not decentralized

They could be spread across multiple blocks.

But the issue is the max size per transaction...

The Hive blockchain has a maximum transaction size limit of 65kb (kilobytes) per transaction. This limit applies to the entire transaction object, including metadata and operation data
